I have experience with teaching online as well as in a traditional setting. Being a language learner myself, I know what the most common challenges are when learning a language and the most successful ways to overcome them. In addition, both my undergraduate studies as well as most of my jobs required me to have an impeccable use of Spanish and English, which proved to be very useful when helping other people to learn these languages.

My lessons are for students who really want to make a difference in their level of English. I specialise in three areas: • Preparing students for IELTS, Cambridge First (FCE), Cambridge Advanced (CAE) and Proficiency (CPE) • Helping students who have a reasonably good grounding in grammar but feel inadequate in spoken English • Helping students achieve a native-like accent As a former Cambridge examiner for speaking exams over a period of about 20 years I have a lot of experience in preparing students for speaking exams. I have taught students for Cambridge exams for over 30 years with a high degree of success. Working in S E Asia I wrote two textbooks for Brunei and Singapore exams.

I have been teaching Japanese since 2015 April. I am good at teaching Japanese grammar. I helped my students to pass JLPT in all levels. I have taught English to Japanese students at an Eikawai school in the past. I was in charge of a TOEIC course and also conversational classes. Also I have worked as a translator/interpreter at a car parts company in the past. I am good at explaining English grammar and how to pronounce English sounds. I am super enthusiastic, adaptive and creative as a teacher. I am also patient and understanding, particularly when it comes to the struggles of learning a second language. My experiences with language-learning give me a little insight into the challenges (but also rewards) you will meet in learning English. As a native Irish person with a very neutral accent, I can help you to crack Irish English as a language, but also to understand Irish people and our culture. (We're a very confusing bunch!) I have been travelling for many years and have visited over 30 countries. This has been an excellent way for me to help people learn new languages or develop their grasp of English. My experience ranges from teaching farmers in South America to assisting in small group settings studying for exams. As a teacher, I try my best to create a friendly, welcoming space for you to learn English. I know how nerve-wracking it can be as a language learner, no matter what level you are, and so I want you to feel happy and comfortable during our lessons to make mistakes and not feel embarrassed. Making mistakes with me is the best thing you can do as I'll correct you (nicely, of course!) and help you stop making that mistake again. All of this will be done naturally as I don't want anyone to feel overwhelmed by English, particularly when speaking with me. Due to my style of teaching and personal preference, I do not teach children.

I started to teach 5 years ago in Spain and it was a total coincidence and since then I love it. After 3 years of teaching in Spain I decided to go to Australia, where I did my CAE certificate and I obtained TESOL and TECSOL certificate for English teachers. I worked with students all ages from 5 months to 66 years old, all different levels ( beginners to advance). I worked as a teacher in Spain, Australia and China. I speak English, Spanish, Afrikaans and Xhosa, and underwent training in received British pronunciation. I have been living in South Africa for the last few years, in the morning we often see a troop of baboons passing by. I like walking my dogs, keeping abreast of current affairs, exploring cultures, cuisines, landscapes and meeting people, hence my interest in sociology and teaching English xox.

I have also taught in Mainland China and here in Canada. I have a Bachelor's Degree in French Studies, am a trained French interpreter, and have a TEFL certificate. I studied linguistics and language-teaching methods in university. I speak Mandarin Chinese as well, and have a lot of experience teaching English to Chinese speakers.
