About Me

Hello everyone! I am a native English speaker from the States, born and raised. I am also Vietnamese American (người Mỹ gốc Việt) so I can also speak Vietnamese conversationally. I have studied Linguistics at UCSD (University of California San Diego). I love to travel to learn about different cultures and languages. I can only speak English and Vietnamese, but I have dabbled in a few other languages: Hmong, Japanese, Spanish, Xhosa, ASL, Mandarin, and Cantonese. The other languages are still at a beginner or elementary level, but I think understanding a little of each shapes my understanding of languages.

Me as a Teacher

Since I am also a language learner myself, I understand the struggles when it comes to learning different languages. When I learn try to learn a new language, I normally focus on pronunciation first. Sometimes we don't notice sounds in a foreign language because it's not in our own native language so I think it's important to become more aware of those sounds and also the flow and melody of the language you are learning.

My lessons & teaching style

I am focusing on pronunciation through listening and speaking practices. I will help you become more aware of how to sound more fluent in English like a native speaker. We can also practice any English sounds that are difficult for you.
