I graduated from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology with a diploma in Food Science and Nutrition. I am now completing my Post Graduate Certificate in Education. I am also teaching Technology and English as a student assistant teacher in a local school in my hometown. I decided to pursue a career in Education because of my growing passion for teaching. I love teaching very much.

Writing has always been one of my passions because the ability to express oneself through words has such an impact on the reality that one creates. During my years in university I excelled in all my English classes. I was chosen to be a teacher’s assistant for ESL classes, and I worked in the English Lab alongside English professors to edit and revise student essays. I recently obtained a TEFOL and have received several offers to teach at International Schools around the planet. On my free time, I compose poems and transpose fluid thoughts into writing as a way to release feelings and emotions.

I am patient and flexible. I have taught students from children to adults and from complete beginners to advanced students. As a teacher, I find it important to listen to the student and find out what their needs and wishes are and plan the lesson accordingly. I will listen to your suggestions and customize and adapt my lessons to meet your individual needs.

I have a great love for languages in general and have always been fascinated with how they work. I enjoy mapping one language onto another. I try to evoke this same interest in my students, and help them see both the similarities and the differences between their native language and the language they are learning.

I have taught English for 6 years. I love going deep into grammar, vocabulary, and the exceptions in the language. I also enjoy helping students with test preparation. I even do the exercises while I have coffee! I like to teach functional language based on the student's needs. I started my career teaching children, but now I only teach adults. That's because my classes are more fun when I can discuss my student's grammar problems on a higher level. I was lucky to have excellent teachers who inspired me in my career. Like Mr. Ramos, whose passion and enthusiasm made the lessons enjoyable and fun. He always explained things with a smile, and I aim to be that kind of teacher every day.

Since I was 14 years old, I like learning languages that is why, currently, I study Modern Languages. I almost get my college degree. In my studying process, I realized that I really love teaching languages. Therefore, I decided to look for an academy here in my country to teach the languages I know and share my knowledge. I have two years of experience in teaching languages. I considered myself as a patient, professional and funny teacher. I love teaching conversational English and helping students practise the conversational elements of the IELTS exam. I am very easy to talk to, and will always adapt to the topic in question. I have a neutral British accent, which is very easy to understand. I have completed a 150 hour TESOL course as well as a 120 hour TEFL course, and have taught online and in person for several years. Patience is a key attribute of mine, so there is absolutely no need to feel embarrassed if you are struggling with anything. I like to remind students of their progress and help them stay motivated rather than let them dwell on any nuances they have not yet mastered.

As a teacher I'm very open-minded and I love to try new methods of teaching. I read a lot about education and I also experiment on myself when I'm learning a language. Whatever I find to be effective, I'll bring into the class. Of course, I also take into account what you like and what your preference is. I have been teaching English professionally for over 2 years. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States and an accredited TEFL certification. I have experience teaching English to adults, teenagers and young children. I take pride in my work and I genuinely love seeing my students have breakthroughs with the language. As a second language learner myself (I am currently studying Spanish) I understand the challenges but also the joy and satisfaction of learning a new language.
