Sono un insegnante in possesso di certificazione IB, programma innovativo e meraviglioso (a mio avviso) che utilizzano le scuole internazionali presso le quali ho lavorato per molti anni. Ora insegno prevalentemente on-line. Ho studiato e scoperto nuove risorse tecnologiche e sono riuscita a utilizzare il mio metodo anche nella programmazione delle mie lezioni su pc. Insegno italiano per studenti madrelingua e stranieri. Il mio metodo e' incentrato sull'attenta osservazione e ascolto del singolo individuo e delle sue conoscenze, passioni e abilità, al fine di poter formare e arricchire le competenze e far emergere le proprie potenzialità.

Professional (I have got the certificate for teaching Italian to foreigners CEDILS by University of Venice Ca' Foscari), but also funny and engaging. My approach is "relaxing", I want to teach Italian in a "easy" way, depending on the level of the student. I use different materials (my own presentantions, pdf, audio, video, online exercises), and I put them at students' disposal. Especially for beginners, I think that grammar is fundamental but it mustn't be boring. I also like to talk about Italian history, culture and way of life. I speak a very good English, less good German and Spanish, but since the lessons will be mostly in Italian anyone is welcome.

Come si evince dalla mia presentazione, non e' mio intento e grado, insegnare ad un livello accademico. Based on my background and life style, my goal in teaching is to improve the communication skill in everyday life needs. As I travelled a lot, I like to give priorities to those common habits and understanding of dialects and slang cacophonic weird sounds which could lead to an unpleasant experience in my beloved country. Such misleading wordings, put myself into some hard time scenarios, both in working environments either everyday life. Therefore, to plan in advance an all round historical and cultural heritance vision, should be a must for everyone willing to learn a new language.

My name is Valeria and I am a professional Italian Teacher. I hold a Ph.D in Chinese Studies, M.A in Comparative Studies and I have 6 years of teaching experience at Chinese Universities as well as one to one tutoring in the UK. I have specialised in teaching to Chinese speakers who wish to study in Italy, to European professionals who work for Italian companies, and to retirees passionate about culture and travels. I have a solid knowledge of teaching methodologies that I developed through my experience as a lecturer in China and in the UK. I learnt how to design new courses according to students’ feedback while making sure that they are clear and comprehensive.

I adopt a communicative approach, without dismissing the importance of focusing on specific aspects of the language. I love to transmit not only the language, but also the cultures of Italy! My travel experience and knowledge of people of all nationalities have greatly helped me in teaching languages because I have developed empathy and listening skills to meet my students’ needs. The ability to speak correctly and with a good pronunciation is the most significative and fulfilling skill you will ever get, while learning a new language. That's why I organise each lesson as guided dialogue. This allows us to train at once each aspect of the language: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening. Moreover, it boosts speed of learning and improves mnemonic processes.

Posso conversare su praticamente qualsiasi cosa e utilizzo la conversazione come metodo informale per spiegare grammatica e concetti.

As i am a very patient and careful person, i will follow the student's progresses throughout his/her learning process, because my priority is to help him/her to reach him/her goals. The first lesson will be mostly focused on our personal presentations and in the following steps, we will discuss a learning plan together.

I am enthusiastic in what I do and love to share little tips here and there that will compliment my students' language learning habits in general, should they be looking for advice. I will find different ways to explain a concept and understand how to energize my lessons through new material. I am very patient and determined to only offer the best to help students reach their goals, whether beginner or advanced. I offer German/English conversation lessons for all levels as well as Italian and Spanish classes for beginner-intermediate levels. Note: While I do like emphasizing conversation, I know that many students will have different preferences and learning styles. Therefore I am flexible!

I graduated from Università Statale di Milano in 2013 in "Foreign Languages ​​and Literatures". After university, I obtained a 1st Level Master in "Promoting and Teaching of Italian Language and Culture to Foreigners". In 2013 I was an intern at the Italian department of Kennesaw State University, USA. My Master’s final project was published as an article in an specialized Italian LS/L2 magazine. After my Master, I had many teaching experiences, also with Individuals with learning disabilities, both in Italy and in the USA. I worked in Pennsylvania as a Teaching Assistant for the elementary, intermediate and advanced Italian language and culture classes at Bucknell University, Lewisburg.
