I have done a lot of language and linguistics related things at university, and I have worked part-time as a language teacher and tutor since the age of 16, gradually moving into more challenging positions, like teaching German to immigrants and business people, and tutoring university students in Latin and Ancient Greek. I have never formally qualified as a teacher, but I take teaching very seriously - while making it fun and inspiring at the same time! :)

During my studies of Translation and Interpreting in Spain, I started working as a German teacher (2004). After I finished my Bachelor's degree, I completed a postgraduate degree in Language, Translation and Literature. After this, I completed a German Teaching Course at the Goethe Institute. I have worked as a German teacher not only at many different private language schools like Inlingua, but also at the university, the Official German School and at an Examination Center of the Goethe Institute where I got the certificate as an official Goethe examiner. I have lots of experience as an online teacher (Skype, Zoom, Hangouts,WebEx). I am a very openminded and enthusiastic German teacher.

I was working as a german and alphabetization teacher in Austria during 3 years, wih people of different origins, education,, adolecents and grown ups, slow- and quicklearners. So in general I m very used to different kinds of students and can easily adapt. I also gave private arabic lessons. Here in Costa Rica I teach Spanish to foreigners. no USE OF ITALKI CLASSROOM! SKYPE or maybe other if you explain me early enough how it works!

When I was a student, I was tutoring a lot of adults and children. In 2017 I passed my state exam for being a French and Spanish teacher at high school. Currently I’m working as a language teacher at a secondary school but I also worked as a language teacher for adults.

I am a positive and patient person. I learned the German language myself and I know what do you need. After studying German as ,,a foreign language " at LMU Munich, I emigrated to Colombia (Bogotá), where I taught German for 4 years at the Goethe Institute. During this time I continued my education and after 2 years I obtained the Grünes Deutsches Diplom (DLL Deutsch Lehrer Lernen). Since I am back in Germany (2 years) I have been teaching German at GLS German Language School in Berlin (I have also experience in Online classes)

You can choose the topics we talk about. I will give you as much input and ideas as you want me to. I am always willing to receive an honest and constructive feedback at any time during the lesson, so that I can adapt to your needs and adjust my teaching style for you.

My work as a teacher includes teaching groups, kids and private students and preparing them for exams from beginners to B2. Some of my students want to improve their skills in order to study in Germany or a German-speaking country. Others need to improve their language skills because of their work in a corporate environment. My classes focus on language skills, such as fluency for professional and private settings, preparing for job interviews or presentations, and dealing with all kind of real-life situations the students may face.

I have studied some dozen or so languages to varying degrees, so I’m quite experienced with various methods of learning. I have also taught classes in university before, both language and otherwise.

After a short period of time in Egypt I was asked by friends and other people if I am teaching german or if I would be able to do so. So I mostly gave (private) conversational lessons as a part time job (for around 3 years). I am currently not teaching beginners or children!

I was often used to help refine the pronunciation and sentence building of my schoolmates, when I was younger. Thus, I can easily speak slower, with an accent that is easier to understand or use words which are more basic. I have learned a lot on iTalki, until now. I believe my teaching has improved and my system works. I have had complete beginners, thus I feel comfortable with taking the first steps with you. Nonetheless, I am also guiding more advanced students. I myself do occasionally make mistakes, whilst on this path of becoming a good tutor, if something surpasses my knowledge, I will make sure to find it after our lesson and fill you in.

I also have been teaching german and spanish for more than 5 years. That´s why, I know quite well, what the best strategy is, if you want to learn a new language in a fast and easy way. Although I have a career in biology, I really love teaching languages and I have to say that, it´s something that has taught me a lot in return.

I believe learning should be fun. I´m not a professional teacher but over the years I got quite a few opportunities to teach German and English for fun (sometimes, in Myanmar, for example, also for cookies...) and every single time it was a very special experience. Ich habe bereits knapp vier Jahre lang bei Summercamps Kindern Deutsch gelehrt, selbst privat Nachhilfe gegeben und außerdem auch Austauschschülern aus Asien Deutsch beigebracht. Daher bin ich damit vertraut, mich meinen Gegenüber individuell einzustellen, insbesondere wenn es um Sprachen geht. Ich bin sehr geduldig, gesprächig und habe immer verschiedene interessante Themen parat.

Learning a language should be fun. In my view, the best way to master and enjoy it, is by speaking it. It doesn’t matter, if your grammar is not perfect at the beginning, most important you get the chance to have conversations in the language you learn. People will understand what you want to say, even if the grammar isn’t perfect. Grammar comes with time. This is how I learned having basic conversation in Spanish just after 3 weeks of language school.

My main aim is it to pass on the spark for the joy of language learning to you. For myself, it has opened so many doors and I want to it to do the same to you. I am a very lighthearted, kind and caring teacher who is aware of your specific needs and it is also my own joy to see you learn and grow. ?
