I am a teacher that wants you to think about a language. I want you to understand the structure and how a language works. Memorization is a very inefficient and boring way to learn languages. This will also reflect in my teaching style. I will show you etymological patterns to dissect vocabulary and see where words come from. I am a patient person. I've learned/analyzed several languages myself and I know what aspects of a language cause more difficulties during the learning process. I am also a certified language teacher.

I have done a lot of language and linguistics related things at university, and I have worked part-time as a language teacher and tutor since the age of 16, gradually moving into more challenging positions, like teaching German to immigrants and business people, and tutoring university students in Latin and Ancient Greek. I have never formally qualified as a teacher, but I take teaching very seriously - while making it fun and inspiring at the same time! :)

Since 2007, I have been teaching German as a foreign language in Taipei, Taiwan to Chinese native speakers. Because I had had an interest in the Chinese language and culture for many years, in 2005 I moved to Taiwan to learn Mandarin Chinese. At some point during my stay I had to start looking for work and ended up teaching German at a local language center. Right from the start I loved teaching German and since then have kept on working as a language instructor with a passion, gaining experience over the years and keeping up with improving my skills and expanding my knowledge up to this day.

During my studies of Translation and Interpreting in Spain, I started working as a German teacher (2004). After I finished my Bachelor's degree, I completed a postgraduate degree in Language, Translation and Literature. After this, I completed a German Teaching Course at the Goethe Institute. I have worked as a German teacher not only at many different private language schools like Inlingua, but also at the university, the Official German School and at an Examination Center of the Goethe Institute where I got the certificate as an official Goethe examiner. I have lots of experience as an online teacher (Skype, Zoom, Hangouts,WebEx). I am a very openminded and enthusiastic German teacher.

I try to make my lessons fun and enjoyable. In our first lesson we will get to know each other and decide together how we want to design our lessons. We will make various exercises which will be based on your level and your skills. The lessons should match your expectations and if you like to change something or to practice some skills more specifically, we will do so. I also like to give homework, if that is fine by you.

Well, I came to the idea to try myself in iTalki, because I'd like to share my experience coming from zero to fluent in a short time. I do appreciate grammar and standard lessons that i had to pass through as well, but what really made me confident about my German was just many hours of talking with people.

Da ich zurzeit Lehramt studiere, finde ich iTalki sehr gut, um mich selber weiterzubringen und Menschen zu helfen! I teach German with easy and fun steps. I do not teach grammar with complicated conjugation tables, but with a lot of funny examples. That way, the class does not get boring and the student keeps his interest. I enforce his learning by letting him read good German books, watch famous German videos etc.

I've been tutoring for over 7 years now ever since I was a high school student myself. First, I was doing private tutoring in English, German, French, Maths and Sciences. Then, after finishing my BA in English and American Studies and Business Studies in 2017 and completing my CELTA, I moved to Brighton (England) for one year to work as an English teacher at a language school. Now I'm back in Germany to finish my Masters in Linguistics and learn as much as I can about languages and culture.

Ich unterrichte Deutsch als Fremdsprache bereits seit 7 Jahren, sowohl live als auch online. Nach der Schule habe ich Deutsch und Pädagogik studiert und in der Erwachsenenbildung gearbeitet. Ich bin freundliche und sehr geduldige Lehrerin. Es ist wichtig für mich, dass meine Schüler den Lernprozess genießen, sich im Unterricht wohl fühlen und so viel wie möglich sprechen. I have had a lot of experience in professional and freelance settings. I've tutored and taught English, German, and History since about 2013. I am currently working on getting my teaching degree at SUNY Oswego in Oswego, NY. I like to have a personal connection with my students in order to get my students comfortable and motivated to learn English or German. I feel language learning only works when the students are comfortable and not intimidated.
