About Me
italki teacher since Nov 12, 2020
InterestsMedical & Healthcare
My name is Daniel He, I'm 24 years old and I'm studying Computer Science in the direction of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the Technical University of Darmstadt.
I was born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany.
My parents are both from China, more precisely from the Southeastern provinces of Jiangxi and Fujian.
So I grew up bilingually.
While I speak German perfectly and without accent, I can speak Chinese on a high level
---
Currently (March 16th), I am working on Bachelor Thesis about applying Machine Learning to create an autonomous driving tram in Darmstadt in the Project MAAS
Me as a Teacher
Before iTalki, I volunteered to teach German and Math to Syrian refugees in refugee camps. It was there that I've discovered that I love teaching.
---
I follow my own Teaching Philosophy:
My goal is to teach you how to teach yourself a language with the tools I have provided here.
Essentially, I want to make you an independent learner - an autodidact/self-learner - who can master the German language largely on his own in his spare time:
Consequently, I do believe that your progress depends largely on you.
It depends largely on how you prepare for the lesson, what you do after the lesson ends and what you make of the material I’ve presented you here
My lessons & teaching style
Firstly, I provide you with additional resources and tools and teach you how to teach yourself the language (see my Teaching Philosophy above) and become an independent learner.
I use my own created 5-MISTAKES approach to identify how often you make the 5 most common types of mistakes in German and teach you to use the aforementioned resources to review your predominant mistake types.
My approach to language learning is that through interesting and stimulating conversations, through sharing stories and anecdotes, you naturally acquire the language.
I also use the BILINGUAL METHOD which has proven is effectiveness scientifically.

Really good lesson going over my mistakes with Nebensatz and word order in more complicated sentence structures.

Another great lesson with Daniel. We're making real progress with my pronunciation and it's a great help to have a teacher who is able to point out my mistakes as it helps accelerate my progress!

Daniel identified in a very systematic manner the key areas I need to focus on to improve my spoken German. Very patient and supportive.

Dank deines Unterrichts konnte ich merken, wo ich am meisten Fehler mache. Ich spreche jetzt zwar langsam, aber ich werde in einigen Monaten besser sein! Ich wiederhole den Unterricht und bis bald.

A good lesson as always working on my issues with vowel pronunciation.
