I have over 2 years experience of teaching learners of all levels, and I hold a degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Leeds, UK. Learning a new language can be daunting and scary, and as a learner you may often feel overwhelmed when using your new language. As someone who has lived abroad for 2 years, in Santiago, Chile, I know exactly how it feels to be a language learner who feels unsure about using their second language, and may lack confidence in speaking situations. I’m here to help you gain confidence in your use of spoken English, and can help you with grammar and conversation practice.

When I lived in Spain for over a year, I taught one-to-one private English lessons to children, university students, and adults while attending university in Murcia. When I returned to Canada, I decided to continue teaching and make it a full-time career as I enjoyed my experience teaching English so much while living abroad. Since my return to Canada, I have been teaching English 40+ hours per week to all levels and ages. I enjoy assisting students while sharing a bit of my culture with them and hearing about theirs.

I am an experienced and CELTA qualified English language teacher living in Birmingham, England. I also hold two other teaching qualifications. I specialize in IELTS but can support with other exam preparation such as FCE and PET and conversation.

I usually set homework every class but if that's too much for you, that is not a problem!

My teaching career began in high school when I worked at my school's summer camp. In university I tutored reading to 3rd grade students at the local public school. Later I lived in Mexico and did an internship with an English teacher at the national university. In the internship I focused on improving students’ pronunciation and fluency. I have been a private English tutor in Ecuador, Spain, and Morocco. Most recently I was in Vietnam for 1 year teaching English to all ages and levels at a private language center.

What helped me the most to learn a new language was to have conversations with a native speaker who knew that I was still learning. I found it really helpful be be corrected in an understanding, constructive way so that is what I try to do. Questions are appreciated and encouraged! I also prefer flexibility to rigid structure as it can sometimes be more beneficial to follow tangents, so I have a simple lesson outline which changes depending on students needs. *PLEASE NOTE*I do not tutor children aged 12 and under. Nach dem Abitur habe ich dann meinen BA in den Fächern Englisch und Geschichte an der Universität Hamburg gemacht. Was mir in der Schulzeit in meinem eigenen Englischunterricht an Sprachpraxis deutlich zu kurz gekommen ist, habe ich mir während meiner Studiumszeit durch Tandem-Partner und Sprachpraxis-Seminare, besonders aber auch durch mein Jahr in Neuseeland, in eigener Hand beigebracht. Dadurch und durch meine bisherigen Lehrerfahrungen geprägt, möchte ich meinen Unterricht individuell auf mein Tandem ausrichten.

I have been studying languages at a university since 2014 to become a teacher.
