I love teaching English and I'd love to help you achieve your goals. I specialise in teaching English to medical professionals, due to my experience as a doctor, and help them to prepare for OET (Occupational English Test). A good score in the OET will give you, as a medical professional, the opportunity to register, work or study in your chosen English speaking country. If this is your goal, I'd love to help you achieve it. Scrolling down my profile you may think I am new on italki because I have a zero history of students in most of the courses that I provide. But that is NOT true.I ve been teaching here since 2015 .And I used to teach a massive variety of English courses (Business E, generak E, toefl, job interview, ect). However, I had to terminate teaching for a year and turn off the class history. I was unaware that the number of classes that I gave , which was substancial, would disappear. So after I got back to teaching and made certain courses available again, there was an unpleasant surprise of having zero student history. Feels like I have to start almost from scratch)

I am a language student myself and used to be painfully shy when speaking a foreign language. I didn't let that stop me though! I figured out that the hardest part of speaking any foreign language is starting. The fear of failure can be terrifying but finding a teacher that you feel comfortable speaking to can make all the difference. In my classes, mistakes are encouraged as they are what we learn from. We all make mistakes but languages are a tool for communication with others most importantly and I believe that comfort - not perfection- is key. As a teacher I'm am constantly trying to find better ways to help my students, including recently finishing my TEFL certification.

Teaching has been such a fulfilling experience; for me, learning is a two way street. Every student I’ve had has taught me something different and has helped me grow as a person. I think everyone learns at their own pace, this is why I like getting to know my students in order to tailor my lessons to a style and speed that’s best for them.

I am a TEFL qualified teacher but more importantly I am a native English speaker. If you want to speak authentic english i feel that it's definitely an advantage to learn from a native speaker such as myself. I want to help and guide you to learn all the correct english terminology with the current, up to date expressions or even slang if you wish. I can help improve your speaking, reading and writing though conversation practice, pronunciation exercises, structured grammar and vocabulary boosting. I have taught many face to face, 1 on 1 lessons with pupils from several nationalities and varying levels of english.

I do not use traditional language learning methods to learn languages or to teach them. They do not work well. Instead, I focus on building up a fundamental foundation of vocabulary and basic grammar, and then immerse myself and students in content that is made for native speakers. This is how the native speakers learn their first language, and it is the best way to learn any foreign language. Another thing that is majorly lacking in most classroom settings is actually speaking. This will not be a problem with me as this will be the main focus point of my lessons. I am a firm believer in the fact that you need to speak a language in order to learn it effectively.

I started teaching English to immigrants in the United States in 2003. I continued to teach off and on for awhile, then I become certified in 2011- and I've been giving private English lessons full-time ever since. I can say that I have plenty of experience (in total over 12 years; 9 years full-time) teaching ESL learners. I'm a teacher who spends time on my students outside of lessons. I plan lessons, I write and send notes to my students after every lesson, I help students who need something small edited or proofread, and I spend time learning about the student's native language and finding quick solutions to the problems that they may face.

Teaching is a passion of mine and is something that I have been doing since I turned 18. My background in linguistics, particularly phonetics, allows me to specialise in pronunciation, and the many languages I speak will allow me to understand why you make certain mistakes, and so it will be easier for me to help you correct them. I also have experience in speech therapy, as my younger brother is deaf and verbally dyspraxic, and this helps tremendously with teaching pronunciation. I believe these abilities put me in an excellent position to help you sound like a native speaker. My style is relaxed but attentive, and I aim to get you speaking as much as possible. You do not need to prepare anything for the lessons (unless you want to), I will always have questions for you!
