I have chosen a career in education because I believe that it is one of the most important functions performed in our culture. I believe that teachers individually and collectively have the ability to not only change the world but to improve it. I believe that teaching is the job that grants me symmetrical harmony with the nature of my personality and my life. I am fond of learning about language and culture.

I started teaching during my year abroad in Madrid, Spain, which was part of my degree course.

I am invested in my students' language learning journey. I want to create a comfortable atmosphere where my students feel like they can express themselves freely without fear of making mistakes. Once this is established, learning becomes much easier. My goal as a teacher is to have my students feel more confident when speaking and also improve their understanding when listening to spoken English.

As a teacher, I have experience teaching both adults and children. I started teaching in 2005, with an English as a Second Language program in France, and since then I have spent more than a decade teaching at the university level in the United States and several years teaching younger students at the K-12 level, primarily in middle school and high school. Currently, I have students as young as 9 years old all the way to professional adults who are interested in language lessons.

Two years ago I started teaching on Italki and also gave extra lesson to high school students. From August 2017 until December 2018 I taught German and English in a language school in Ho Chi Minh City. The biggest city in Vietnam and gained a lot of experience in teaching in front of a class. During this time I realized one of the biggest challenges in learning a language. Self-confidence. Also the structure and way of teaching was not always efficient. In order to support the Vietnamese education system and especially the students, together with my Co-Founders we set up our own German language center in Vietnam. Currently we teach all levels and hope to inspire more young students!

I consider myself patient, easy-going, flexible yet professional and knowledgeable. I would like to emphasize flexibility here as each person is different with different levels and needs. Humour can also go a long way :-). I try to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible, as having fun and enjoying the process is crucial.

I have been teaching online for about 6 years. As a teacher I am patient, kind, understanding, & encouraging. I also am a student (I speak Spanish. I understand a lot of Portuguese because of my Spanish background, & I just started learning Russian.)
