After graduating from university, I decided that I wanted to study Mandarin Chinese, and since my community is so small, I became frustrated since I didn't have access to in-person classes or an in-person tutor to help me progress.. I came across Italki and signed up for my first lessons as a student. I enjoyed my lessons and wanted to be able to help to students who are wanting to learn English. For that reason, I became an Italki teacher in early 2014 and have been teaching ever since.

As a teacher I try to be adaptable and plan my lessons according to my students needs. I have over 7 years experience so I am familiar with a lot of the difficulties non-native speakers may have.

I've taught Physical education from K- 12th grade. I've coached multiple sports and worked with kids of all ages. In the business world I've managed restaurants and supervised and coached at times up to 40 employees.

I teach on SKYPE and I write corrections and suggestions as we speak. You will progress by speaking and with private study. English is everywhere! Notice it and use it! Listen to music. Watch films. Listen to podcasts. I prefer using real texts to language learning texts and I will use them when I can. As you speak I will write suggestions for improving your English. This will be your record of up to 90% of our conversation to re-read and remember. I teach adults and older teenagers who have a basic knowledge of English up to advanced. I started teaching when I was living abroad in New Zealand. I was working a full time job but did some teaching online! It was a great experience and then lead me to go to Asia where I taught not only online but also in classes! That was a real life changer there! I really developed as a teacher and was interested in becoming a teacher in a country that I would settle in! Which is the case now as I am living in Barcelona! I have been living here now for 4 and a half years and have just started my fifth year in the same school! It has been such a great experience and I am so grateful to have such amazing students! Ranging from kids that are six years old to adults in their seventies!

I have been teaching for 9 years, since I left university. My degree is in Law, German and French and I have a PGCE teaching degree. I taught in a UK secondary school for 7 years, eventually becoming the Head of Languages in an Academy. I loved the job but it didn't give me any free time, so this is why i decided to leave, travel and work online as I go. I still enjoy teaching just as much and I am available for lessons most days. I'm organised and friendly and will help you to make fast progress and give you lots of confidence.
