About Me

Hi, everyone. My name is Lan. I’m 31 years old. I have 10 years of experience working as an English teacher and over 2 years of teaching Vietnamese. I’m a creative tutor with a strong passion for teaching. For me, this is an amazing and rewarding job. For over two years, I have had amazing encounters with many awesome people around the world. I enjoy not only teaching, but also learning about their cultures, thoughts, and lifestyles, some of which can’t be found in any books.

Me as a Teacher

I have worked with foreigners who work in Vietnam and those who have Vietnamese friends and families. For me, it’s a great joy to help my students gain a deeper, more meaningful connection with their Vietnamese circles. The language barrier is lessened. There’s no more frustration, misunderstandings or the feelings of being left out. ----- Students’ Age Group ----- Adults (16 – 50) I'm not teaching young learners at the moment. ----- Tutor's status ----- New students are welcome. My lessons & teaching style

My teaching style can be summarized in 5 words: creative, simple, practical, fun and unique. Also, I emphasize an open mind, curiosity, risk-taking, and most importantly, a positive and respectful attitude. Every lesson will be filled with engaging activities and speaking opportunities in order to prepare you for everyday social interactions. I believe we learn a language to convey our opinions and feelings in a respectful manner, not to impress others or pass some tests, then end the learning process. Although the lesson format is simple, it’s not repetitive or tedious. My class is new, different and surprising every time, while you still find it easy to follow along.

Lan is a great teacher. Her lessons are great for practicing speaking. The conversations flow naturally, and the time flies by. She sent me an article, and I loved that we not only discussed it, but also expanded beyond its contents.

Good! Chị Lan is very nice and did a thorough job assessing my level as it was my first lesson. I like that she shares powerpoint slides to help learn vocabulary and grammar. Audio was good, although video was a little bit hard to see details over Italki classroom.
