I am a certificated teacher in Swedish, Swedish as an Additional Language and English. I received my Bachelor of Education in 2004 and have been working as a teacher in the Swedish public school for about 15 years. Since 2019 I have been teaching Swedish as a Foreign Language private online. I have lots of experience in teaching at multiple levels and different age groups. As a teacher I use a wide range of techniques and methods which I adapt to each student’s personal needs. I use a wide range of material in my lessons which I have gathered throughout my professional life.

My method is combining psychological science and personal experience in order to build an increasingly complex (nuanced) model for learning languages. Aside from conversing with my students and "intellectualizing" the language (discussing grammar etc.) I like to help the student to start to build his or her own model for learning languages. I want my students to become more and more independent in their learning. I am also a student of psychology at the University of Linköping in Sweden.

My goal is to help my future students to communicate and write in Swedish language and that is why I adjust my classes to them and their needs. I like to use different teaching materials an I encourage my students to speak in Swedish as much as possible. And maybe most important, I am a professional in my work but I also know how to relax my students and give them a great learning experience. I'm super passionate about teaching, guiding, motivating and coaching individuals in many areas in life. I'm friendly, flexible and very patient. I like discussing various topics such as music, films, food, technologies, traveling, culture, etc. I'm good at explaining grammar, so you can ask me any questions about that. I prefer not to push but to inspire, and individual approach is my main principle. I let the students study at their own pace, and I always try to find the best way to help them achieve their goals. I'm happy to see how my lessons help my students to travel, to communicate with their family members, to find work in another country, to get another citizenship, etc. I also hope I can help people from different countries understand each other better.

Because of my own passion for languages, I’m enthusiastic about helping others work towards their language-learning goals. I love words, expressions and their etymology. Having found love for language, culture, and teaching, I set off to Korea to work as an English tutor. Well here in Korea, I began studying Korean, but having never learned a language as an adult before, I struggled immensely. However, that all changed when I came across my tutor. I have worked as a private tutor in Stockholm, Budapest and Paris, helping students with mathematics, physics and Swedish. My name is Martin Hedberg and Swedish is my first language. My approach to learning is that it should be as fun as possible. I try to accomplish this by talking about culture, customs, recent news and films from my surroundings up here.

As a teacher I am patient, creative and challenging. I will do my best to explain things as clearly as possible, so it will be easy for you to understand and learn effectively.

I like to be as responsive to the students requests as possible so depending on why they are learning the language I like to adjust the lessons. My personal belief (and also how I learn myself) is that the best way to learn is to be engaging with the language while having fun. I also encourage my students to dig deeper into the culture as this will really help them grow in the language I like recommending movies songs etc. As a person and as a teacher I am the one that tries to get through every day/task with a smile.

I’ve been learning how to speak a language in different ways (traditional- in school and natural-like a child) and the natural way is by far the most stimulating and motivating way. My classes will be mostly conversational and we will personalize every class to your abilities, needs and goals. I can help you with everything from grammar, preparation for Swedish exams, new vocabulary etc. Life is a constant learning process that never ends. Every day we are learning new things and improving as long as we stay curious and engaged.

I'm adaptive to your needs and I always aim to keep the lessons relaxed. I take on a limited amount of students, to be able to better give you the attention and continuity needed for learning.

I try to be a flexible teacher as much as possible so I'm very happy to adapt to the learner of course. But what often happens is that learners want to practice speaking and to some extent also listening to the new language. I usually write the mistakes on Skype for the learner to immediately view while we are conversing and/or for later review. But I am open for suggestions! It's important to enjoy, have fun, and not feel stressed while learning a language. That's why I want to try to make you feel comfortable and allowed to express and not worry about mistakes. I believe I am a good listener and since I am also studying languages I have a good understanding of what you are going through.

As a teacher, I want to share my knowledge. I put the students first, listen and support with what is needed. I prepare thoroughly for the classes. If needed, can also be flexible during the classes.
