I have always loved teaching, I really enjoy communicating knowledge and finding the best way to make the information as easy as possible and it is even something I can think of for my future career. As a teacher, I have had some experiences. I have been tutoring university students in different courses related to my field of study for 2 years now. I gave also french lessons to a german high-school student for one year. I do also have two younger brothers, who were and still my first and best students.

I found my passion for teaching while in college when I quit my part-time job at a restaurant bussing tables. I followed the advice of a friend, who was a tutor, and started tutoring students for some extra cash. I tutored students in my major, which was Spanish, and eventually began helping English Language learners, as well. I found it to be such a rewarding experience; I loved it! I have worked with native speakers of Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Arabic and I have found that everyone has a unique perspective. Since graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Spanish, I have had wonderful experiences teaching English in schools in Spain & France.

Teaching languages is something I’ve done since I was in elemntary school… I used to tutor my friends and classmates, help them with grammar and writing homework and all of them appreciated my techniques. To reach a native-like proficiency, I think the best way is to think in that language. And since this can be very challenging, I promise my students to be patient, I'm all ears during and outside of study time.

I focus on everyday English, culture of the English speaking world, English for specific purposes and have taught international university students in the US, with a focus on essay writing. I taught in France at university level (literature, creative writing, Anglophone media). Most recently, I have taught communicative English, IELTS preparation, Business English for corporate classes, including one-to-one lessons. I came to foreign language teaching as a foreign language student (speaking Spanish as a child at home and school) and starting French as a complete beginner at 17 in Quebec. These experiences made me aware of how language could facilitate travel and cultural exchange.

As a teacher, I will tailor my lessons towards you. What are your goals and objectives? Once we've established that, we can start towards making those goals a reality. If you want to practice conversational skills, practice your vocabulary, understand different French accents, learn about French culture and more, I am here to help you. As I was a learner of French in my past, I understand the struggles for learners of all levels with this language and know the best ways to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible in speaking, writing and reading in French.

I have taught English and French as second languages in various capacities, as well as Francophone and American literature. My goal is to build a comfortable, warm environment for my students, where they feel able to speak freely and use the language as much as possible. I rely heavily on authentic language source material to help the student build a personal connection with the language, and those who speak it. NB: I am only available to teach adults, and not well-suited for absolute beginners. One of my passions is teaching so I have taught different languages: spanish, english, french and german in Ecuador and abroad. We can talk about French culture, French food, etc. I fully understand the challenges that make up the learning of a language, since I am currently speaking thanks to the Internet with some natives in three different languages.

As a teacher, I like to take the time to explore your own learning style in order to foster a better learning experience. I believe my expertise helps me guide you towards better foreign language practice - it is through communication, accompanied by bits of the necessary grammar, that progress is achieved. It's important as well to stimulate your curiosity and base my courses on up-to-date, relevant topics ; I enjoy making my students work on hands-on projects (creating short videos, making short blog articles, etc.) as I believe those are activities that promote effective, real long-time learning.

I have been travelling for many years and have visited over 30 countries. This has been an excellent way for me to help people learn new languages or develop their grasp of English. My experience ranges from teaching farmers in South America to assisting in small group settings studying for exams. I studied English language, French and Spanish, hopefully I can help you see how easy it can be to pick up a new language too. Please, no students under 17yrs (I may accept a trial or 30 minute lesson to see if we are compatible however, it is unlikely).
