I'm Adam, I'm 24 and I'm from the UK. I love languages, and have dedicated many years of my life to studying them. I can confidently speak Spanish and Portuguese, and one bored day in lockdown last year, I decided to learn Swedish for fun. I have a degree in Modern Languages from a British university and I have a TEFL qualification. I specialise in offering classes to intermediate or advanced speakers. I particularly love intricate details of language, accents and dialects. I can help you to differentiate between UK, US and other varieties of English if you choose to specialise in one particular variety. I love travelling, learning about other cultures, music, good food and good wine.

Ik als leerkracht

In 2018 I travelled to Peru to teach English to children of primary years. There, I worked in two schools - one in the beautiful Andes, and one in the arid city of Arequipa - assisting students with grammar, vocabulary and their Cambridge speaking examinations. I have some (limited) knowledge of other examinations such as TOEFL and IELTS as I also worked in a private language academy where I taught adult students of all levels. Please note: I don't teach anyone under the age of 16 on Italki.

I am relaxed and positive, and can offer advice on how to stay motivated in language learning if you feel you lack confidence. I like to involve different media, including videos, news articles and music, and anything I find on the internet that I find interesting at the current moment. I place great importance on making sure there is a relaxed and stress-free environment, and I encourage you to speak as fluently as possible, even if you make loads of mistakes, as making mistakes in my lessons allow you to gain knowledge and confidence. In conversation classes, I like to take into account your interests as well as mine - after all, who wants to discuss topics we're not interested in?

I was looking for somebody with British accent and after few lessons I think that Adam is a very good choice. I appreciate his summary of each lesson and his effort to discuss of topics I'm interested in.
