I have been a teacher for the last two and a half years, ever since leaving China where I first began teaching whilst travelling with friends. I was given a part time job teaching children and I fell in love with teaching very quickly. At the time I wasn't qualified to be a teacher however, and being an honest sort of person, I felt obligated to go away for a while, and learn how to teach in earnest. I like to have fun talking with my students, and it means so much to me to be part of their lives, and to watch them grow as speakers of English.

I enjoy various approaches to teaching, including roleplaying, article reading/discussion, free talk, discussing the news, and more. I like to be flexible with my learners. I like to begin by analyzing my learners needs, and understanding where they are with English - i.e. what are their strengths, and what are their weaknesses? It's very important to me to know that my students are learning about things that will benefit them directly.Mijn lesmateriaal

He is so good teacher. I spent relaxing and wonderful time. Thanks to his guidance, I could focus on short vowel which I have a poor command of English, and I grasped them. And he can see what is my weak point and what lesson he recommend.

Luke is one of the friendliest and most competent teachers that I've had here on italki. We had an amazing conversation on what it is to learn a language, and discussed what type of exercises would be beneficial for me, to fill the gaps of my English and take it to the next level. I had a great time and am definitely looking forward to our next class. Thank you Luke! :)

The class was great! I really like the way Luke prepared the class. He divided the class in four moments: 1) we have discussed using some questions about healthy that Luke prepared; 2) Luke send me a text about autobahn in Germany and I have read it and summarized it writing in the Skype; 3) I have read the text loud and Luke corrected my pronunciation; 4) we discussed about the text - each one defended a point of view.
