Il 22 giugno 2020, Anna Maria ha completato la sua tremillesima lezione su italki. Ho avuto una lezione con lei quel giorno. Anna Maria ha spalancato per me le porte in un mondo di meraviglia e bellezza. Grazie del suo supporto e della sua guida, (io) sono in grado di conversare in italiano, leggere fiction e saggistica in italiano e studiare un tema per i video documentari in italiano. Le mie esplorazioni della letteratura, dell'arte, della storia e del cinema italiani compiute con Anna Maria mi hanno dato gioielli e ricchezze da studiare e condividere per sempre. Sono entrata in un mondo senza confini e qui gironzolero' felicemente per il resto della mia vita. Auguri auguri di cuore, Anna Maria. Sei tu veramente brillante, generosa, dotata. Sono io profondamente grata.

I'll write this time in English so other potential students will understand just how good a teacher you are, Anna Maria. You never fail to act as if I'm making progress - even when I spend the entire session stumbling and stuttering. There's a lot to absorb and when I'm focused on something new, I seem to suffer from amnesia about the simplest vocabulary and grammar from earlier lessons. Not once have I seen you cringe when you had every reason to do so! I truly appreciate your consistency, your unwavering support and your easy pace to take whatever time is necessary. No doubt all your students feel similarly - I just think as we've passed the one year mark together (with all our holiday breaks, dog emergencies and tooth surgeries), it's a good time to tell you directly what a fine educator you are! Inglese this time, for anyone who is skimming through the reviews. The key thing about Anna Maria's lessons is that there is no pressure; none. With some teachers I feel like I have to prepare for battle before each lesson but with Anna Maria I find that I glide into the lesson, and am nudged along in the right direction through guided corrections and exposure to new language. in my opinion this method makes it a lot easier to become comfortable in expressing yourself, and boosts your language skill without you even realising that it's happening. One piece of advice that I would give to new students; go back through the chatbox after the lesson and review all of the new language that she has written to reinforce it in your mind.

Anna Maria mi ha viziato! Sono fortunata averla come mia insegnante e spero che potremo continuare a lavorare insieme per molto tempo. Just in case anyone who is learning stumbles upon this and finds it useful; I've made a slight change to my study program. I'm studying formal grammar through the Assimil series (on a daily basis if possible) and am making notes in a Word document that I scan through as a refresher periodically. I'm now ALSO making notes of my lessons with Anna Maria, immediately after the lesson so that I don't forget the context of the language used. I find that this can be a very effective way of tying language to context, which helps with retention.
