I am a certificated teacher in Swedish, Swedish as an Additional Language and English. I received my Bachelor of Education in 2004 and have been working as a teacher in the Swedish public school for about 15 years. Since 2019 I have been teaching Swedish as a Foreign Language private online. I have lots of experience in teaching at multiple levels and different age groups. As a teacher I use a wide range of techniques and methods which I adapt to each student’s personal needs. I use a wide range of material in my lessons which I have gathered throughout my professional life.

I know both the struggle and the joy of learning a language and I want to make it as easy for you as possible. As a tutor, I want to hear your goals and make them achievable! From my experience, conversational lessons are the most effective way of learning a language. My aim is to engage you in a conversation and guide you effortlessly into proficiency. I'm adaptive to your needs and I always aim to keep the lessons relaxed. I take on a limited amount of students, to be able to better give you the attention and continuity needed for learning.

A key aspect of what I do as a teacher is to help the student find a language learning process that is enjoyable in itself. Yes, it is helpful to know why you want to study a particular language and what your goals are but above all, you need to have a learning process that is enjoyable in itself because only then can you reach mastery (or whatever goal you have a mind) while having fun along the journey. Often, this involves letting go of your inner perfectionist, embracing failure and learn to enjoy making mistakes. When we free ourselves in this way, we can start to play with the language itself and as a result, we will learn much faster and have a much better time while we are learning.

My name is Martin Hedberg and Swedish is my first language. My approach to learning is that it should be as fun as possible. I try to accomplish this by talking about culture, customs, recent news and films from my surroundings up here.

Because of my own passion for languages, I’m enthusiastic about helping others work towards their language-learning goals. I love words, expressions and their etymology. I’m interested in the nuances in language that many overlook, so you can trust me to pay attention to detail! I’m good at identifying my students’ strengths and weaknesses in language acquisition. With your interests and goals in mind, I will make sure that the material, as well as my own speaking style, level and pace, suit your current level and learning style. My goal is to help my future students to communicate and write in Swedish language and that is why I adjust my classes to them and their needs. I like to use different teaching materials an I encourage my students to speak in Swedish as much as possible. And maybe most important, I am a professional in my work but I also know how to relax my students and give them a great learning experience. So if you are planning to move to Sweden for studying, work or maybe you have a partner from Sweden I am the right person to teach this beautiful and interesting language and also introduce to you to Swedish culture and even history.

✅ If you don't speak English, no problem. I can understand Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German and Japanese. I can teach you Swedish/English/Spanish using these languages (as support languages). My method is combining psychological science and personal experience in order to build an increasingly complex (nuanced) model for learning languages. Aside from conversing with my students and "intellectualizing" the language (discussing grammar etc.) I like to help the student to start to build his or her own model for learning languages. I want my students to become more and more independent in their learning. I am also a student of psychology at the University of Linköping in Sweden.

I'm friendly, flexible and very patient. I like discussing various topics such as music, films, food, technologies, traveling, culture, etc. I'm good at explaining grammar, so you can ask me any questions about that. I prefer not to push but to inspire, and individual approach is my main principle. I let the students study at their own pace, and I always try to find the best way to help them achieve their goals. I'm happy to see how my lessons help my students to travel, to communicate with their family members, to find work in another country, to get another citizenship, etc. I also hope I can help people from different countries understand each other better.

I am very used to talking to people who are not completely fluent and I am very patient, so we can adapt our conversations to whatever level or speed you are comfortable with. In 2014 I started teaching Swedish to people from across the world. My teaching approach varies depending on the students personal goals and level.

As a teacher I am patient, creative and challenging. I will do my best to explain things as clearly as possible, so it will be easy for you to understand and learn effectively.

I would say that I am very patient, calm and enthusiastic as a teacher. I love teaching. I love being able to help people to integrate in the Swedish society by learning the most essential part, the language. I also do love being able to help the ones who are passionate about language and need a little extra motivation and help when it comes to the improvements. I have various years of experience, I started tutoring Swedish for immigrants after school as i was 16 years old and ever since then I have been tutoring especially from 2014 and onwards. Since July 2017 I have had the privilege to teach on iTalki and i absolutely love it. It has given me a lot of experience and knowledge.

I like to be as responsive to the students requests as possible so depending on why they are learning the language I like to adjust the lessons. My personal belief (and also how I learn myself) is that the best way to learn is to be engaging with the language while having fun. I also encourage my students to dig deeper into the culture as this will really help them grow in the language I like recommending movies songs etc. As a person and as a teacher I am the one that tries to get through every day/task with a smile.

I strongly believe that for a successful learning, the student has to enjoy the classes: this is why my goal is to adapt the teaching depending on your needs, interests and previous knowledge and, according to my students, I'm pretty good at it!
