Inicie a trabajar en italki en el año 2014, Tengo experiencia hablando con personas de diferentes países y diferentes culturas, personas que hablan nivel basico de español hasta personas avanzadas y también tengo experiencia corrigiendo textos y documentos. Mi decisión de ser profesor comenzó porque desde niño tengo el deseo y la curiosidad de conocer otros países y encontré en italki una forma de hacer nuevos amigos y ellos pueden contarme sus historias y hablarme de sus países. Estudie Ingeniería en sistema. Mi especialidad es hablar y principalmente escuchar a los estudiantes de español y ayudarles a mejorar su conversación en español.

My main motivation to become a Spanish teacher is related to a strong vocation to social activities and communication. Teaching allows me to give practical and theoretical knowledge to the students to improve their own languages skills. Witnessing their evolution in Spanish has become an extra pleasure of my own teaching activity. I always respect diversity and the students’ main objectives. I am fascinated by the world of education and psychology and so much so that, in addition to my training, I am currently writing a book and have created a method for learning both Spanish and Basque so that your learning is as real as if you were there. I first began teaching conversational English when Iived in Barcelona, I found it to be really rewarding and fun. On returning to the UK and completing my degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies I began to work as a tutor of Spanish. I now have many years of experience of teaching Spanish and have worked with students of all ages, backgrounds and levels, I have taught exam preparation for GCSE and AS/A level, business Spanish, conversational Spanish and have worked in groups, one-to-one and online.

I am a patient person and able to interpret the needs of each student in order to achieve the objectives quickly and effectively. Throughout my working experience as a language teacher one of the important achievements was the fact that I was the founder of Catalan language course and its promoter in the cultural centre I worked for where my activity was related to the following points: ▪ Introduction to grammar and practical vocabulary necessary for fundamental communication skills ▪ Instill concepts of both Spanish and Catalan languages by introducing interactive activities ▪ Use structural methods and materials appropriate for instruction success ▪ Assess student accomplishments and work with them on weak areas

When I was a student, I was tutoring a lot of adults and children. In 2017 I passed my state exam for being a French and Spanish teacher at high school. Currently I’m working as a language teacher at a secondary school but I also worked as a language teacher for adults.

I began teaching in 2004 at a Waldorf school in southern England. I taught a variety of humanities, including German, English, and French. I have also worked in translations for many years, which has helped me to learn the subtleties of expression in the languages I use. I believe in learning naturally, without studying rules and structure (none of us do this with our first language, after all!). I have always enjoyed seeing progress in others, and facilitating this in an effortless way is something I find very rewarding. I have also taught theatre, as well as worked with disadvantaged young people, focusing on motivation, self-esteem and self-confidence.

I consider myself an empathetic and patient person, but above all, eager to teach my two native languages. I have the experience of having taught subjects in which students needed reinforcement, currently but especially in my school days. I have also taught Catalan and Spanish to adults who were introducing themselves to the language and to those who want to improve it. Over time, I have been improving my teaching in classes, being able to adapt to the level and needs of each student.

My main purpose is to create a safe and comfortable space for you to talk in Spanish with all confidence. Learning and speaking in Spanish can seem difficult, and more if you are not used to some letters and words that are pronounced differently in Spanish, but we will work on your speaking skills, pronunciation, and ability to transmit your thoughts, to break that language barrier that is limiting you from speaking Spanish. Our main goal is that you learn and feel confident to express your ideas and express yourself in Spanish. Also, I can tell you more about Colombian culture if you are interested. Getting to know your culture will be interesting as well.

As a teacher I understand that learning a new language is a huge challenge, but in a relaxed and enjoyable environment it is easier than you think. Together we will build the confidence you need to develop your skills in language.
