I've always been fascinated by languages! When I was in school, I provided private and group tutoring to different students in different areas: English, Spanish, Mathematics and Physics. In my university I've also helped some fellow students in different subjects, including English. Besides, 5 years ago I had the chance to take part in a volunteering project that helped foreigners learn Spanish in Antigua Guatemala. Every experience has taught me a lot :) I decided to become a tutor because I think the best way to learn about the world is by teaching other people what you yourself know :)

In 2011 I signed up at the Teaching Training College, where not only did I learn about languages but also about pedagogy. For this reason, I always design meaningful lessons based on the communicative approach and the four skills (Reading, writing, speaking and listening). These lessons are always prepared taking into consideration the interests of the learner and the objectives set to improve any aspect of the language. Besides, I try to create a good and comfortable atmosphere where the learner feels free of making mistakes and they are seen as a way to improve the learning path.

I have been an English and Spanish teacher since 2007 and I have worked in several private and public institutions. I have a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish teaching from Universidad Pedagogica Nacional and I am currently living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I work as an English teacher. I taught English to college students from 2008 to 2015, and I also taught English literature and directed a few language immersions at the universities I worked at. From 2015 to 2018, I lived in Washington DC and worked as a History/Spanish teacher at a bilingual multicultural school where I had the chance to teach students not only from the US but also from Central America, Africa and Asia.

In any language there are several fears such as: fear of being wrong or shyness when speaking and it is normal, so together we will overcome all these obstacles.

I am a responsible, organized, punctual, very patient, friendly and close person, and who likes to talk about many and different topics. So as a tutor of the community, all this cocktail of qualities that I have always comes with me. As a conversational Spanish tutor I give myself to needs of each student and we focus on the topics that interest them. I also know how frustrating it can be to learn a new language and how difficult can be to find someone native to talk with. So here I am for help you! ?

I try my best to adapt to the level and skills of the student. Though this can sound scary, especially for beginners, my priority is to talk in the language the student is learning, and if possible, that the student does most of the talking. You can, and will, make mistakes. No worries. That's the best way to learn. Si sabes reírte de ti mismo, ya tienes andado la mitad del camino para aprender un nuevo idioma.

I have experience in teaching to all types of public, I realized courses and conferences in my community about teaching the Spanish language and specific themes about my profesion. My interests are technology, business, medice, travels and I would be happy to share them with you, I am available to teach specific topics. Cuento con experiencia en enseñar a todo tipo de público, he realizado cursos y conferencias a nivel local sobre la enseñanza del idioma español así como temas específicos de mi carrera. I have been a modern foreign language teacher (French, Spanish, and English) for nearly two decades. I started my teaching career as a business language instructor in the oil and gas industry before moving to teach in international schools in 2004. Since then, I have worked with children aged 3-18 (i.e., pre-school through high school). I am state certified to teach French, Spanish, and English to students of all ages, and as part of that process, I have passed state, national, and international background checks. For over a decade now, I have also worked as a trainer for modern foreign language teachers and to date, I have trained over a thousand teachers in more than sixty countries.

I come from a family of teachers. My parents, aunts and uncles and cousins are all teachers! I have always been very interested in Education so after finishing high school I decided to enroll in a teaching degree. After graduating, I moved to London, where I worked as an Early Years Teacher in different settings. I also worked teaching English as a Foreign Language in Spain--it was super fun!

I think is very important to understand which is the type of learning that every student has and according to it, improve successfully in their learning process.

I consider myself to be a patient and empathetic teacher with a pretty good sense of humour. I believe that apart from linguistic knowledge, confidence plays an important role when communicating in a different language. I studied Translation and Interpreting at university, and I speak English and French. Although in my lessons I speak just Spanish, sometimes using other languages may be useful. But above all, having studied languages helps me to put myself in my students’ place. I have taken many different language pedagogy courses. I have been working in a language school in Madrid for five years, and since then I have had students from many different countries and all levels.

Me encanta enseñar y creo firmemente que nunca esta de más brindarle tu conocimiento a otras personas que lo necesitan a la vez que haces algo bueno por los demás, también haces algo lindo por tu corazón.

I'm a very patient person and a good listener. My goal is to make the students speak providing them a very relaxing atmosphere focusing mainly in their subjects of interest so that they can feel comfortable and motivated to talk about the things they like the most, improving their speaking skills at the same time.
