After graduating, I have been teaching offline for the past five years. Firstly, I was a tutor for the Italian language certification exams (CELI) at the University of Perugia. I taught to students of all ages, from children to elders, that's why I developed an ability to adapt my teaching method to every student. I am a very patient person because I know how struggling could be to learn a new language. I love teaching and my main goal is to help you to reach your goals!

I share my students' excitement and satisfaction while succeeding in speaking their target language and this is highly rewarding and motivating for me! As a teacher and language learner myself, I know motivation is key to effective learning.

I like to share my culture as much as I like to learn from other cultures, which is why I started to give private Italian lessons to foreigners of every level and from all around the world. I like to understand what my student's goal is and find the most effective way for us to reach it together. In my experience, in order to learn a language, it is very important to speak. I worked in Manchester to improving my English skills; I worked as a teacher in a technical school (1 year); I have been working as a private teacher for 5 years. I worked as a touristic guide in a famous cellar in Sicily: cantine Florio. I worked in a private school “Antemar” and I taught "italian for business".

As such, I aim to tailor and personalise the lessons I deliver as much as possible, starting off by getting to know the student through a dialogue before commencing on the language-learning journey together.

As already mentioned, before moving to UK I earned a Bachelor's Degree in "Foreign Languages and Cultures" and a Master's Degree in "Literatures and Intercultural Translation" in English and Spanish languages. While I was studying in Italy I used to teach privately as well to high school kids, to help them improve their English/ Spanish skills.

I graduated from Università Statale di Milano in 2013 in "Foreign Languages ​​and Literatures". After university, I obtained a 1st Level Master in "Promoting and Teaching of Italian Language and Culture to Foreigners". In 2013 I was an intern at the Italian department of Kennesaw State University, USA. My Master’s final project was published as an article in an specialized Italian LS/L2 magazine. After my Master, I had many teaching experiences, also with Individuals with learning disabilities, both in Italy and in the USA. I worked in Pennsylvania as a Teaching Assistant for the elementary, intermediate and advanced Italian language and culture classes at Bucknell University, Lewisburg.

I have worked as an Associate Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge since July 2014. During this time, I have taught pre-sessional courses with groups of students from very different linguistic and cultural backgrounds, with varied targets and levels of knowledge of the language. As a language learner, I know from experience that speaking is necessary to learn quickly and effectively. Most classes fall into the trap of using the same, highly ineffective, traditional teaching methods. Too much lecturing and theory leave students bored and tired. I have found a way to help my students to learn faster, and retain more information easily and quickly. My approach is based on a few fundamentals: listen and repeat, pronunciation, active thinking, spaced repetition. I believe in a flexible approach to language learning.
