Take online Italian lessons with italki tutors

I've been an ESL teacher since 2010. I possess a TEFL certification as well as a BA in Italian language, literature, and culture. I've also worked for three Italian schools, being in charge of organizing and preparing lesson plans for groups and individual students in both private and company settings. I have experience with book-based lessons, personalized courses, business-centered learning, online teaching, telephonic and e-mail lessons. In addition, working with beginners to advanced students (A1 - C2, as guidelined by CEFR). My students describe my classes as being fun-filled, interesting, insightful, and effective! For our lessons I’ll choose among a selection of textbooks written by professional authors. The choice will be based on many factors: your current level, your native language and its distance from the target language, your goals and learning style. If you need to reinforce some topics I’ll add extra activities to the lessons or as homework. Homework is not compulsory, but please keep in mind that learning a language is fun and effective only when both the student and the teacher put some effort into it. I’m very happy to teach students with different needs, from beginners who have never learned a second language to advanced students who are looking for serious, structured teaching.

I have been studying English and Spanish, so I know from experience that learning a language takes time and dedication. My aim is to make this process as pleasant and fun as possible. I deal with many students around the world by giving language lessons, both in person, at the Italian language school Accademia Leonardo in Salerno, and via Skype. My passion for languages and my studies brought me to understand that languages are not just simple codes ruled by grammatical norms, but that they are actually used to express ourselves as individuals with different backgrounds and cultures.

I began teaching in 2004 at a Waldorf school in southern England. I taught a variety of humanities, including German, English, and French. I have also worked in translations for many years, which has helped me to learn the subtleties of expression in the languages I use. I believe in learning naturally, without studying rules and structure (none of us do this with our first language, after all!). I have always enjoyed seeing progress in others, and facilitating this in an effortless way is something I find very rewarding. I have also taught theatre, as well as worked with disadvantaged young people, focusing on motivation, self-esteem and self-confidence.

Insegno alla Dante Alighieri di Palermo, tengo da anni lezioni su Skype e ho fatto diverse volte esperienze di homestay a casa mia: gli studenti di tutto il mondo sono ospiti nel mio appartamento, vivono con me e la mia famiglia e imparano l'italiano facendo con me un corso intensivo di lingua italiana. I am curious, open-minded, and flexible, meaning that I always try to adapt to my student's needs. I believe that the more fun you have, the better you learn! My main focus is a conversation, however, I am open to go through single grammar topics and adapt my lessons accordingly.
