I have been a teacher for 5 years and have experience teaching IELTS classes and both BEC higher and BEC vantage classes. I have also taught all general English levels from A0 to C2.

I have 5 years of experience in teaching foreign languages field, and I believe the best way to learn any language is an immersion into it. So i let my students to talk a lot and improve their conversational skills instead of memorizing names of grammar rules. I hold a TEFL certificate from UC San Diego California as well as a Teaching English Grammar (TEG). Cureently working on my IELTS preparation certification. I have also been a conversation leader for international students in San Diego, California. I have been teaching both face to face and online, now more so than before for obvious reasons. I like to be able to help students enjoy their language learning journey as much as I did when learning a new language.

I have been an ESL teacher for almost 9 years. I have taught all levels, ages and most nationalities. I have taught at 7 schools. I first taught in Shanghai, China, but I prefer teaching international classes in my city, Toronto, because it is more interesting, dynamic and fun. I am very patient, intuitive and creative with my students. I will correct you after you've finished your thought, and I will teach you exactly what you need at the moment of speaking.

I am keen on learning languages and I know how challenging it can be sometimes. During the lessons, I want you to speak Russian or English as much as possible. But when something is unclear, I can explain it to you in English or German. During the sessions we will also study grammar and pronunciation, but our main focus is conversation.

I have seven years experience teaching at top schools around Europe, online, and on the UN-sponsored NGO Peace Boat on which I sailed around the world in 2016 and 2017. My motivation for becoming a teacher is that I love to be a helping hand in someone's goals. I am driven to see clear progress and monitor my students' success and satisfaction. Working with people and engaging in stimulating conversation is an amazing part of my job and I often make solid relationships with those I'm working with, which have led to cultural exchanges and long-lasting friendships. I have years of teaching experience, teaching English as a foreign language most recently in Tanzania, the U.K and now here in Italy. I have taught in various environments, from formal school settings (teaching students the Cambridge International Curriculum at an international school: GCSEs, A-Levels, as well as CAE English Speaking tests), right through to more informal lessons teaching both in person and online, as well as teaching at international language schools, language centres and summer camps.

As a teacher I’m guided by a line from Don Quijote, “Cada uno es hijo de sus obras.” (“We are all the children of our accomplishments.”) and an anthropological observation that “education is identity change.” Learning is more than the acquisition of new skills, it’s the emergence of a new identity. I first saw it in my dissertation research, and then I began to see it everywhere. Learning anything new, especially another language, means becoming someone new. These insights continually challenge me to offer relevant instructional opportunities that allow learners to experience themselves engaging in new practices that they can then convert into newer versions of themselves.

I started teaching English because I had such a fun time learning other languages. I want to help others find the same joy learning English as I did learning Italian and German.
