About Me

I'm from Newcastle in North-East England and it's fair to say that I am crazy about languages! I started learning German and French at school which is when I started to see languages as a hobby - I then studied chemistry at University, a year of which I spent at the University of Freiburg in Germany. I enjoyed my time abroad so much meeting new people and improving my language skills that I knew I had to move abroad again after graduating, so I've just moved to Sweden to find a job and improve my Swedish. When I'm not learning languages, I'm a keen musician and love cycling, walking in nature and travelling.

Me as a Teacher

For the past few years, I've been volunteering with young people in schools to improve their confidence with English. During my time in Germany, I worked for the Red Cross as a learning mentor for a young refugee where I provided English conversation practice and helped him with his schoolwork. My current long-term goal is to become a schoolteacher. As a language learner myself, I understand the difficulties and challenges with learning a language and will be able to help you regardless of how old you are.

My lessons & teaching style

I believe the best way to learn languages is to speak it as soon as possible and exposing yourself to the culture through music, TV, films etc. I want our lessons to be fun, and I want you to get the most out of it - I will carry out the English lessons entirely in English and will focus on conversation practice. I will also write down new vocabulary/concepts in a document which I'll share. If you have any other suggestions for our lessons, let me know (e.g. interview practice/cover letters, IELTS preparation, grammar). My German lessons are best for beginner/intermediate learners - I will carry out the lesson primarily in German, but will switch to English to explain concepts.
