If you are looking for not only an incredible teacher, but also an incredible human, Aki-sensei is the person you're looking for. I've studied with many teachers on italki, and no one makes me feel more comfortable. She is patient, great at continuing a conversation, an expert at explaining unknown Japanese words/ phrases in Japanese, and most importantly she makes me more passionate about learning the language. My lessons with Aki are primarily conversation practice-based. However, I have provided vocal lists or grammar points that I have struggled with in the past and she was able to explain them and integrate them into our conversation practice. I think if you are seeking conversation practice and to build speaking confidence (like me), Aki is the best teacher for you.

I just got back from Japan and Aki's lessons have really helped me to grow at my ability to speak and understand Japanese. I could not have made this progress without her. I have learned so much about grammar, vocabulary and natural Japanese. Plus studying with Aki keeps me motivated. And she also gives great recommendations for art supplies stores! ありがとう！

I am really impressed with how intuitive Aki-san is- she always picks up on the things that I'm struggling with, even if I don't realize what they are. Then she knows exactly what to do to help me improve. Additionally, she does all this while still having a fun and engaging conversation! ありがとうございました！また次のレッスンを楽しみにしています！

Another great lesson with Aki talking about bagels, and how we eat: chopsticks, utensils and hands! She's always so much fun to learn from!
