Hello, my name is Nomandla Twane but you can call me Dee. I’m a young active lady who likes to sing, dance and laugh. I enjoy interacting with different people because I’m always curious and want to learn as much as I can about the world and human nature. I love movies, my grandmother will tell you for free that all I did when I was a kid was to watch movies. I have also learned a lot through movies. I love food especially meat. I love hiking and spending time with my friends too. I enjoy swimming even though I am not good at it. I’ve been teaching myself how to swim for a while now and I’m quite proud of myself. Overall I’m just a free spirited lady who just wants everyone to be happy.

Me as a Teacher

Being a teacher is one of the greatest choices I have ever made. I enjoy teaching because it gives me a platform to find so many tools and strategies to help someone learn. I’m a patient, flexible and fun teacher, I like to bring comfort into learning but also I take it serious because I don’t like wasting people’s time. I’m a teacher who understands that people make mistakes and that’s okay as long as we learn from them. I like to see results and I also like to see my learners enjoy learning. This tends to make things easy for my learners and somehow it motivates them. I always make sure that at the end of my lesson a student leaves with some knowledge. This is very important to me.

My lessons & teaching style

I will focus on beginner and intermediate learners. These lessons will focus on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and reading. My lesson are structured into three stages • Presentation • Practice • Produce Presentations consist of introducing the new vocabulary or sentence structure. This process is about drilling but also about the student understanding the new vocabulary/sentence structure. Practice consist of practising what the student already knows, this is done through games and questions and answers. Lastly Produce is about the student producing what he/she has learned through the lesson. This can also be done through games, listening assessments and worksheets.

This was definitely difficult at the beginning because I didn’t have any experience with online classes. I’m an active teacher so I got a little worried that I won’t be able to teach to my best capability online and I was not confident. At the end I learned a lot about teaching online, that you can use so many things to keep your classes entertaining and productive.
