About Me

Hi, my name’s Dulcie and I’m a native British English teacher here on Italki. I grew up just outside of London, so I have a standard neutral British accent. Now I live in Sheffield in the North of England, but am often travelling the country in my campervan, and teaching with a view! I completed my CELTA qualification in Summer 2020 and am now teaching students like you, all around the world, online! As well as being an English teacher I am also a photographer and artist, and my hobbies include gardening, walking in nature, wild swimming, climbing, and cooking food from all over the world! Me as a Teacher

I have 3 years of teaching experience, accross various fields, from English to art and photography! Sharing what I know, and watching my students grow is so rewarding. Although I sometimes give lectures, talks and workshops, my favourite approach is working with a student 1:1, so that I can understand a student's interests and needs - this is what I love about italki. I am a bright and friendly person, who loves to hear about different cultures, experiences and passions, and I am very patient, encouraging and kind in my teaching style.

My lessons & teaching style

I enjoy teaching conversational English as I think this is the most fun and productive way to learn languages, and I like to use real-life resources such as articles, videos and creative writing to guide conversations. However, thanks to my CELTA training I also am confident in teaching using exercises and coursebooks to focus on specific issues you may have with grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. I really enjoyed my lesson with Dulcie! It’s always so nice to talk with her, that I nearly forget about the time. It also was really interesting to learn so many new useful phrases and words :)
