Language is the passport to other cultures, and I love sharing my own culture and learning about other countries and other people - especially today, when we can connect with virtually anyone anywhere on the planet. I have been a writer and editor, currently at TIME magazine, and can discuss any topic that interests you - from travel, to art, to politics, to life in New York City. Currently, I am learning Spanish in preparation to move to Spain so I understand the challenges of learning another language, and the value of conversation. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Me as a Teacher

As a teacher my primary goal is to make you confident and comfortable speaking in another language. I've taught myself Spanish and I know that's not easy. But confidence is the key to fluency, and I will work with you to make you more confident with each lesson. The best teachers are the ones who listen. I am extremely patient, focused, and I like to make sure my students feel like every lesson is a step forward in their learning.

My lessons & teaching style

I like to start by having a clear understanding of what my students' goals are. Are you learning how to speak English for fun, for travel, for work? From there, your interests will help determine the topics we discuss and useful vocabulary associated with those topics. I am very flexible and can provide more or less structure depending on how you like to learn. To me, the main thing is that the classes are engaging, useful, and fun.
