About Me

Have you been learning levantine Arabic for a while but you're still not fluent? or you've learned MSA (Modern standard Arabic/Fusha) before and you want to learn a dialect to communicate with your Arab friends or family? You're in the right place! Hi! I'm Tammam, an avid language learner and teacher from Syria and I'm here to help you become fluent in levantine Arabic. I have learned a couple of languages myself (and intend to learn additional ones!) and I know the problems and obstacles a language learner can face and how frustrating language learning can be.

Me as a Teacher

I only give lessons to students who already have a basic knowledge of levantine Arabic or who have learned MSA before. So I'll try to talk only in Arabic and I won't use English unless it's necessary. Everybody has a unique learning style and different goals, so my lessons will be tailored to fit your needs and preferences. My focus will be mostly on conversation. I don't like to focus too much on grammar. However, if you have questions or want to practice a specific grammatical concept, I can help you with that and provide you with exercises. I'll provide you with various resources that can help you learn alone and I'll be available to answer your questions outside of the lessons.

My lessons & teaching style

My general lesson plan will be as following: We'll talk about any topic you want and I'll provide you with corrections and suggestions in a Google docs file during the lesson which you can see and review later. I'll send you anAnki flashcard deck including all the new words and phrases you've learned with audio recorded by me after the lesson, so that you can practice and don't forget them. Optional: You can practice your writing skills by writing a simple text about the topic we discussed and I'll correct it to you. PS. Any detail can be adjusted to meet your needs. I'm flexible! My first lesson with Tammam was great! He's very nice, easy to talk to and professional. In addition, he wrote down all the new words in an excel spread sheet - both in MSA and Levantine dialect. I will definitely book more lessons with him!

1 Arabic (Levantine) lesson

There were technical problems, but Mr. Alk worked around them quickly. He adjusted gladly to my level and my requests. I’m really looking forward to the Anki flashcards he’s preparing from my lesson.
