About Me

I am an actor and student born in South Africa, but grew up in Nigeria, Hong Kong and Uruguay currently living in the United States. I grew up in a bilingual household speaking both English and Spanish at home, but my education and schooling was in English. I have a BA in creative writing and am TEFL certified. I look forward to meeting you and helping you grow as an English language learner.

Me as a Teacher

I am patient and try to encourage the learners as much as possible to express themselves freely and continue to develop their language capabilities. Especially when language is challenging, learners need more encouragement and incentive to see their progress, however small it may be. It is important for me to make them feel that they are understood and that their efforts reap rewards.

My lessons & teaching style

I use images and visual aids when talking to the learners as I feel that images can help to retain the new vocabulary or ideas being learned. I also use repetition, tongue twisters and rhymes to help learners remember new elements. I also find that newspaper or magazine articles can bring contemporary language to the forefront of the learning process and in a written format sometimes make it clearer for the learner. Films and series in English are also good sources for references that I use for the learners to watch so that we can talk about afterward. Being able to express themselves freely often come with new references.

I had a class assignment and need immediate help. I asked for help even Gabby didn't have a schedule open up. Without question, she sent back an invitation. She came home at 10 PM, and we worked on it. I turned my assignment in 10 mins before the deadline.🎉 My mom always said, Be nice to people around you because you don't know when you will need a favor. Thank you, Gabby.
