About Me

My name is Christian Kilwein and I am from Bismarck, North Dakota in the United States. I love the great outdoors and I am an avid traveler. During the summer months in North Dakota, I like to be active outside playing sports with my friends and spending time at my family's lake cabin. During the winter, I am either inside trying to stay fit at the gym or snow skiing at the slopes nearby. When traveling, I either like to lounge at sandy beaches or visit national parks where I like to go on hiking adventures. I am a very sociable person and enjoy meeting all kinds of new people. I am currently studying education and I enjoy substitute teaching in English classrooms during my spare time.

Me as a Teacher

First and foremost, I am passionate about seeing my students succeed. I want to help my students accomplish each and every goal while enjoying the process along the way. I am an upbeat and energetic teacher that attempts to minimize the stress of learning a new language and keep things fun and interesting. I always put my students first and I never fail to go the extra mile.

My lessons & teaching style

I believe that one of the most effective ways to learn a new language is through engaging in genuine conversation. I like to start out by talking back and forth with my students to build trust, become comfortable, and get to know one another. I will also include images and visuals, videos, and Powerpoint presentations into my lessons because that will help make things more interesting and it allows a different form of learning. I will also incorporate the use of flashcards for a small portion of my lessons because they will help with comprehension. I am always open to any suggestions from my students if they want to try different things that they believe will help them learn better.
