About Me
italki teacher since Feb 17, 2021
Hi, I'm Nicole! I'm an English teacher from the USA. Learning languages (Portuguese, Spanish and German) has opened up so many wonderful opportunities for me, and my hope is that it will do the same for my students. I was certified in TESL by the University of Minnesota in 2011, and I've taught adult learners in the US, Brazil, Spain, Germany, and the Czech Republic. When I'm not teaching, I love to be outside! I enjoy traveling, hiking, biking, paddle boarding, and dancing.
Me as a Teacher
My #1 goal is for you to speak as much as possible during our time together! Whether you are outgoing or shy, I can guarantee you that we won't run out of things to talk about - besides being a grammar nerd and pronunciation expert, I have the "superpower" of being able to keep up a conversation with absolutely anyone!
I provide immediate correction to students. Private classes are the best way for students to identify their recurring mistakes and to get personalized help on the areas that they find difficult or confusing. Sometimes, a gentle reminder is enough, and other times, we will work more thoroughly on a specific pronunciation or grammar point.
My lessons & teaching style
I like to keep classes light-hearted and fun!
Students have the option of receiving homework. For those who want to practice listening skills and build vocabulary, I create assignments using Ted Talks and videos from YouTube. In the next class, we talk about their answers to the comprehension questions, practice the vocabulary in focus, and discuss the related topic.
I usually don't focus too much on grammar in class, but I do send online exercises to students who want extra practice on a certain point.

Today I learned Intonation on spoken English. It is really helpful for me to watch English TV shows, and also understand the native speaker’s talk.

I love Nicole’ class. She speaks slowly and clearly, she can correct your pronunciation or grammar errors right away. She also finds you a lot of useful resources to learn English and improve your vocabulary. Today I learned how to speak English like native speaker, really helpful.
