About Me
italki teacher since Nov 13, 2020
Hi, I'm Jeongeun(JE) Lim from Korea. I have had an intense passion for other languages and cultures since I was young. I hold a bachelor's degree in Korean and English Language and Literature specialized in Second Language Acquisition. I worked as a journalist for a year after graduating from college, so I could cultivate my writing and speaking skills through full-time journalism jobs. To seek my new dream, I moved to Texas, US, and I'm currently working in the human rights sector.
Me as a Teacher
I’m interested in not only learning foreign languages but also in teaching Korean to international learners. During my university years, I taught Korean to exchange students from different backgrounds and helped them achieve their goals. I usually correct their journals written in Korean and help them improve their conversational skills in formal and informal settings. I also taught Korean to adult learners who prepared for the TOPIK exam and they've got level 4-6 on that exam. I realized, however, that there is a huge gap between what I know and being a teacher to someone. That motivates me to study Second Language Acquisition deeply, so I took a lot of TESOL/TKSOL classes in college.
My lessons & teaching style
As a previous journalist, I can help you improve your speaking fluency and writing skills. More particularly, I will give my corrections and feedbacks to you and review them together at the end of every class. If you just want to practice your conversation skills without textbooks, I can prepare interesting materials for you. In the trial lesson, I will ask what you want from your classes and then I will make a plan for individually customized lessons based on your level and goals. I will try to integrate the four language skills (reading/listening/speaking/writing) in every class so that your Korean will be well-rounded development and progress in all areas of language learning.

Today’s lesson was so interesting! We focused on the hanja character 입 as well as a few characters that correlates with it such as 출 and 금. We also covered the grammar points -(을)ㄹ까 고민하다 and -아/어 보다,
