About Me

Hi. My name is Sasha Rivka. I live in Southern California with my family and our two cats. I have a bachelor's degree in Journalism and a minor in Spanish. Also, I studied abroad in Costa Rica for a semester. I love to sing and dance and learn about other cultures, as well as my own because I am Jewish. I also love to watch movies and listen to music.

Me as a Teacher

As a teacher, I am patient, attentive and fun. I tailor my lessons to what each student needs, adapting what I include in my lessons. I can help my students to improve their conversation skills, including pronunciation and vocabulary, and to improve their listening, writing, and reading skills. I have worked with students at a variety of levels, from beginning to advanced. I have worked with both international students at my university who were learning English and elementary school children when I studied abroad.

My lessons & teaching style

My lessons are fun, interactive and informative. The goal at the end of the lesson if for my students to leave feeling that they have improved their skills in some way or that they have learned something new. I think it's incredibly important to include visuals as a way to help students learn, so I will be using books, articles, videos, photos and other visuals in my lessons. Also, I will make lessons kid-friendly and will use lesson tools such as books, games, and hand puppets. I encourage students to ask questions and let me know if they do not understand a concept.
