*For Japanese, skip to 1:46! Hi, I'm Matthew! I'm from Alberta, Canada. I study Japanese, Linguistics, and English Literature at University. After I graduate, I want to teach English and Japanese. My hobbies are playing piano and listening to music, especially Japanese music. I also like playing video games and studying Japanese. I did an exchange for a year in Nagoya, Japan. While there, I also took the N3 JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and passed. 初めまして、私はマシューです。カナダのアルバータ州から来ます。大学で英文学と言語学と日本語を勉強しています。卒業すると、英語と日本語を教えたいです。趣味はピアノを弾くことと、音楽を聞くこと、特に日本の音楽がです。それに、ピデオゲームもすることと、日本語を勉強するのが好きです。一年間ぐらい名古屋県に留学していて、そこでN３の日本語能力試験を受けて、合格しました。

Me as a Teacher

I have studied Japanese for about 6 years now, so I understand what learning a language is like. It is definitely hard (to learn a language), but I also think that speaking another language is a super power. I have helped many exchange students with their English while at University, and I also have tutored abroad while on my exchange in Nagoya, Japan. I also have experience teaching Japanese to university students both as a teacher and as a teacher assistant. 6年間で日本語を勉強していますから、言語を学ぶこと理解できます。もちろん難しいですが、スーパーパウワだと思います。大学で色々な留学生の英語を教えてあげて、名古屋県に留学していたとき、そこでの大学生の英語も教えてあげました。それに、チュータとティチャーアシスタントとして大学生に日本語を教えたことがあります。

My lessons & teaching style

For English learners, we can practice casual conversation. Let's talk about your hobbies, favourite food, or Netflix shows. We can also go over articles in English by reading and discussing during our lesson. 英語を学んでいる方のため、カジュアルな会話を練習できます。しゅみとか、好きな食べ物とかネットフリックスショーなどを話しましょう。他のレッソンは英語での記事を読んで、記事の内容について話しましょう。 For Japanese learners, we can have basic Japanese lessons. During these lessons, we can go over grammar, vocabulary, kanji... whatever you like! I can also help people who have the Genki textbooks. 日本語を学んでいる方のため、初級レベルの日本語のレッソンをできます。レッソンに文法とか単語とか漢字とかなんでもできます。それに、「元気」の教科書を持っているひとにてつだえます。
