About Me
italki teacher since Jul 9, 2019
I deem talking about myself as one of the most challenging tasks I have ever faced. This is not because I consider myself to be so awfully sophisticated that words can't do it justice, but because fortunately or unfortunately my mind works in an abstract way which has affected every single aspect of my life.
So instead of a personal essay I give you three of my core values; knowledge, accomplishment and the belief that one must live and let live.
The last one, I believe is what keeps us going, because deep down inside we're all untamed and wild and in a world full of Kafkaesque predictabilities, it's those little moments of spontaneity that keeps us going
Me as a Teacher
I have been a teacher for more than 3 years. in the beginning, like most novice teachers, I couldn't find the balance. I used to drown my students in freer practice because that's how I had learned the language myself. little by little I realized controlled practices aren't all that useless if we direct them properly.
However, my experience with international students has taught me that there is a limit to objectivity and
impersonal curiosity. Language learning cannot take place unless connection is made and that, was where I had to practice the art of task-design in order to integrate cultural,
societal and personal elements.
My lessons & teaching style
Genghis Khan was a cruel man, yet a smart one; he realized the unequivocally significant role
autonomy plays in every success story, so he divided his troops into small groups, with each one having
a leader. If Genghis Khan had been an English teacher, his classes would have been Student-centered ones.
As an INTJ, lecturing on a topic of interest is very appealing to me, but doing so in an ESL class is an offence to almost every breakthrough we have made in teaching methodology during the past century. So I choose to quench my intellectual thirst by throwing bait in class and letting the students find the most reasonable way to hunt.

"O happy he, who still renews
The hope, from Error’s deeps to rise forever!
That which one does not know, one needs to use;
And what one knows, one uses never."
Thank you, teacher Niki for the wonderful knowledge that I gained today, knowledge that will be used and will be helpful wherever I am. Wish you all the best on your way!
