About Me

Hello! I've travelled a lot, often to very remote places, and that has given me a great understanding of how important English is as a language everywhere in the world. I have been a professional writer for about 40 years, and have been published in newspapers, magazines and websites all over the world. I am also an author and publish children's books. This leads to author talks and writing workshops at schools, where I teach the core skills needed to write a novel to pre-teens and teens. I'm at a stage in life where I enjoy giving back, and I really want to help you improve your English, and improve your confidence.

Me as a Teacher

My style is very conversational and relaxed, like two friends talking. Everyone is different, and everyone wants to learn English for different reasons - and that drives the specific vocabulary and style that the person wants to learn. Whether it is more formal language for a business meeting, or more informal speech for travelling or social events, we will focus on your specific requirements. This is not a monologue from me - it is a dialogue between the two of us.

My lessons & teaching style

I think it is important that you enjoy your time with me learning English. I am very tolerant, but do expect you to put the work in. If you do that, then we can have an easy time together. My lessons will be driven by what you need, not what I feel like teaching.
