About Me
italki teacher since Apr 6, 2020
I love meeting people from other cultures and listening to their stories. I have always had friends from other countries and I have helped them when they wanted to learn my language. Plus, I’m a bit of a “grammar geek”, so when listening to someone, almost without realizing it, I can correct them – although I don’t do it all the time! That’s why working as a Spanish teacher was a natural process to me and this is a job that makes me happy. Apart from languages, I’m passionate about literature and psychology. I love nature and I usually go hiking in the mountains of Madrid, the city where I live.
Me as a Teacher
I consider myself to be a patient and empathetic teacher with a pretty good sense of humour.
I believe that apart from linguistic knowledge, confidence plays an important role when communicating in a different language.
I studied Translation and Interpreting at university, and I speak English and French. Although in my lessons I speak just Spanish, sometimes using other languages may be useful. But above all, having studied languages helps me to put myself in my students’ place.
I have taken many different language pedagogy courses. I have been working in a language school in Madrid for five years, and since then I have had students from many different countries and all levels.
My lessons & teaching style
My lessons follow the communicative approach so I try to get my students to talk as much as possible.
I offer different types of courses depending on whether your objective is to study grammar or you prefer to devote the whole lesson to speaking or discussing cultural topics.
I use many different types of materials, but I prefer to base lessons on real texts or videos that I adapt according to the student’s level. At the end of the lesson, I always send a word document with written feedback including a summary of the main topics studied (such as new vocabulary) and some corrections. And of course, if students have the time to work between lessons, I also assign them some homework.

Lessons with Anabel are always great. She has a lovely manner and is very attentive. I like the fact that she gives me feedback about common errors at the end of the lesson and sends a written version during the week. I always come away from the lesson feeling very positive!

Hicimos unas tareas en el modelo del examen DELE. Fue muy útil para mi utilizar esta estructura para practicar estas destrezas.
Me gusta mucho la manera de enseñar de Anabel.
