About Me

Learning is the best gift we can give ourselves! My name is Shimei Botes and I am from South Africa. I grew up learning two languages in a country that has up to 11 national languages. We are a country known for it's vibrant culture and color and this is what makes teaching so amazing for me! I am used to interacting with people from around the globe as I have been teaching English since the beginning of 2019. I absolutely love teaching because not only does it mean I get to talk to different people, but I also get to give them a gift - the gift of language!

Me as a Teacher

Many teachers would tell you to read English books and work through a worksheet by yourself. I say there are better, more productive and more interesting ways to learn English! During my time as an English teacher, I have picked up a few tips and tricks that have proven helpful to many students and this is something I would love to share with you too. English can be difficult but only if you have the wrong teacher. Let me be the teacher that shows you it can be done!

My lessons & teaching style

I am happy to offer basic conversational classes if you would simply like to casually patch up your spoken English, as well as formal structured classes using various TEFL-endorsed materials that are focused on improving your spoken and written English. Your style is my style! I tend to shape my lesson to suit each individual student, so in our first class I will be finding out how you learn best, what level of English you are at and what your language goals are. Let's find a way to make English your next achievement!
