About Me

My name is Bill and I consider myself an avid adventurer! I love to explore not only new places, but also new hobbies, ways of life, languages, foods and so much more! I've traveled all over the world and I am currently fascinated with and enamored by Latin American culture. I recently completed a motorcycle trip from Canada to Costa Rica. My hobbies are mostly things done outside, like camping, riding my bike, running, sitting by the ocean or a lake, walking and talking with friends. I also enjoy cooking and playing music. I also love to stay close with my family and take care of my sister's baby!

Me as a Teacher

I have one year of volunteer English teaching experience in Minneapolis Minnesota at Open Door Learning Center and Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (both language organizations that offer free classes to immigrants) I have a TEFL Certification from the International TEFL Academy in Barva, Heredia Costa Rica. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. I really love to teach as I think it is the best way to grow myself as a person. I am patient and friendly while teaching. I use a conversational approach and I teach grammar when I believe it will help your flow of conversation.

My lessons & teaching style

I like to focus on developing conversation skills for students as long as students have sufficient grammar and vocabulary built up. We can customize the lesson and focus on whatever you feel is most important, or you can let me decide what I think would be best for you to practice - which will typically be everyday conversation skills. I am willing to teach any level. I expect that you will be on time to lessons. If you are not on time and you do not contact me beforehand, I will wait 20 min and charge for half the price of the lesson. We will discuss daily routines and discuss what you are up to in your life. I use a whiteboard to teach grammar rules, and I use readings from the web.
