About Me

About Me A certified teacher of English, B.Ed., M.A., TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Certificate. I currently teach English to adult newcomers to Canada in government-funded programs. I’m a native speaker of Russian, but I’ve lived and worked in Canada for the past 17 years.

Me as a Teacher

My lessons focus around a theme. I walk you through real life situations with different scenarios working on vocabulary, pronunciation and sentence structure. We discuss social conventions and cultural differences related to the theme. I make corrections and leave you with feedback and summary of the class. I focus on making you sound natural and easy to understand. I guide you down a learning path of expressing your ideas, thoughts and opinions in a clear detailed way. I’m friendly, patient, approachable and make you feel valued. I understand your challenges and I’d like to share the strategies I’ve learned to overcome them as a second language learner myself.

My lessons & teaching style

During our first meeting we talk about your needs and identify your goals. We discuss your strengths and weaknesses and zero in on areas you’d like to improve. We come up with a list of topics you’d like to work on. I then design a plan to help you move forward. I can also help prepare for Canadian citizenship test.
