About Me

I have many years’ experience working with children of different ages in different capacities. For 20 years I have coached students between 3-adult of different backgrounds in a variety of fields. I prefer to start off with easy conversation and as time progresses, to go into specific lessons for specific skills. I use many different resources and I enjoy customising my sessions for each student My lessons & teaching style
I prefer to have a very informal conversational style of learning because I believe talking to be the fastest way of learning a new language. My formal lessons are age-dependent and I can be customised according to your individual needs. I am a very friendly and easy-going, an upbeat person and I do my best to make each session as fun and positive as possible for all of my students. I am TEFL qualified and I have a great knowledge of the English language and all the difficulties it can bring, but I aim to make it as easy as possible for all to learnMy teaching material

Riaan is an excellent and patient teacher who breaks down certain expressions and concepts of the Afrikaans language into bite-sized information that aids in my learning. He's also fun-loving and that itself is a huge factor in putting one at ease when it comes to learning. I will be looking forward to having more lessons with him. Highly recommend!

This class was with teenagers and we shared things about our cultures with each other. The kids were so interested in learning about South African food, music, sports, and culture, and we learned a whole lot that we didn't know which really lit a spark in their eyes. He felt out their English levels and adjusted his speaking and communication pace accordingly. He is top-notch and the teens are looking forward to connect again (and getting teens excited is quite the challenge).
