About Me

Hi! I’m Kate and I’m a qualified and well-experienced English Language Teacher from Ireland! I currently live in beautiful Lisbon, Portugal where I enjoy exploring, eating at restaurants and immersing myself in Portuguese culture (language and food!!). I am also currently studying towards an advanced teaching qualification: DELTA. I’ve been teaching English for the last number of years, both in Spain, Portugal and online via Skype or Zoom. I've had students from all over including, Spain, Portugal, France, Brazil, Russia and China.

Me as a Teacher

I am patient and understanding and this is reflected in my teaching style. My students must feel comfortable and their confidence must be built up in order to become proficient speakers of English. My best quality as a teacher is the ability to recognise the individuals needs and plan my classes accordingly. Having previously taught people with no background in English whatsoever, to highly proficient speakers, my experience is notable! I adapt my lessons to the needs and interests of my learners while making my classes fun and engaging.

My lessons & teaching style

I use a wide range of materials such as articles, videos, music and other authentic materials which will help you to feel more confident when speaking English and will be sure to keep you fully engaged! I also use an interactive whiteboard in order to make clear points and annotate articles etc by sharing my screen. We will do exercises and examples together too! ** PLEASE NOTE ** In keeping with italki's policy, you cannot cancel a lesson with less than 24 hours notice.
