About Me

Hello and welcome! My name is Rachel, I'm a very creative and passionate individual with a love for teaching and travelling. I enjoy new challenges and problem solving and as stated in my intro video if I'm not teaching you can usually find me in the gym or painting weird and wacky things. I am a student as well as a teacher as I am currently learning French, hoping in the future to pick up some Gaelic and maybe Dutch too, so I fully understand the anxiety of trying to learn a new language.

Me as a Teacher

I never intended to become a teacher, I fell into it by chance after graduating from university by working in a local secondary school for 3 years as a librarian/teaching assistant for SEN teenagers. Since then I have gained both a TEFL and CELTA certificate, have spent a year teaching in the North of Spain and now teach children aged 3-11 in the North of France. I truly love teaching. I enjoy helping others overcome their learning barriers, pushing students' potentials and having them achieve their goals. I am as much a learner as I am a teacher, as every lesson I teach there is always something new to learn about my students or how to adapt a class to better suit my student's needs.

My lessons & teaching style

My lessons are always based on the learner's needs, from the topics that they want to cover to the pace of the lessons. If they have a particular learning style e.g. aural, visual, I will try to incorporate this into our online lessons as best I can. I try to make learning as fun as possible and use a range of materials depending on what we are covering. I love having conversation classes, helping students to prepare for exams and I also have a particular interest in focusing on pronunciation to help students get round all those tricky vowel sounds that the English language has.

It was just the trial lesson, but it was like talking with someone I've know for ages. She seems to be a very "cheerful" person ;) I'll book more lessons with her.
