What makes me a great teacher for you?
One: I have a wide educational background, includings a PhD in physics and an MPhil in theology - an unusual combination, especially for an English teacher! So I can help you with just about any subject you like!
Two: I hold the CELTA qualification from a brilliant school, International House in Bristol. I've also trained in preparing students for the OET test. I have an excellent and highly accurate knowledge of the English language.
Three: I have taught at a huge range of levels, both in the classroom and one-to-one. I have the experience you need.
Four: I love meeting people from all sorts of different cultures and backgrounds. That means you! My lessons & teaching style
I like teaching in an interactive way, and I will always adapt my style and methods to the student. I think that's really important. I'll use whatever topics you are interested in.
I will also do a LOT of error correction, even in my informal classes, because if you've been learning for a while, that's what you need most!My teaching material

Master's - Theological studiesFor my MPhil with Bristol University, I made a special study of one passage from the New Testament and the important issues it raises for Christians. I also studied Hebrew and New Testament Greek at a high level, along with the interaction between science and Christian belief.

Bachelor’s - Theological studiesI studied the Bible and theology in depth and also studied other religions. This has helped me understand myself and other cultures much better. Some people don't want to talk about religion, but I am very happy to!

EngineerI worked at nuclear power stations and at head office on many projects involving nuclear technology and engineering. That means I am well qualified to discuss engineering, physics and a whole range of issues relating to energy policy and the environment.

I've been working with Steve for almost one year now and I never get bored or tired of our classes.
His positive and friendly attitude made conversations with him pleasant and comfortable, and his perfect listening skills enabled me to speak a lot and improve my fluency. While listening to me he collected probably all my mistakes in non-intrusive way and surprised me afterwards with very detailed and valuable feedback. When we discussed grammar points, his explanations were really helpful, structured and well-thought. Regardless of the topic or the format of the lesson I always recieved a lot of value from it.
Even though I'm making a break for now, I hope to continue with Steve after some time, since he is one of the best language teachers I met.

If it hadn’t been for your (always challenging, but very target-oriented and useful) lessons, I still wouldn‘t feel ready to „tackle“ the CPE speaking exam. Thanks to you I‘m ready to take the bull by the horns now and I feel like I‘ll be able to handle whatever strange speaking topic they may come up with. Thank you for your patience with me and your very calm and supportive way of teaching.
