About Me
italki teacher since Mar 18, 2019
People are sometimes surprised that I “don’t have an accent.” That is because I am a second-generation American. My family is originally from China. I am a native English speaker. Growing up as a minority, I had to learn how to fit in. I was very shy. It was through these early childhood experiences that I learned how to imitate people, live within two cultures, and ultimately celebrate who I am as a Chinese American. I like to think outside the box, and I love learning new things. I live on a farm in Oregon (UTC−08:00, Pacific Time), where we are passionate about food and sustainable living. In addition to teaching, I am also a graphic artist, yogi, cook, and herbalist.
Me as a Teacher
I am a creative and modern teacher. I take time to get to know each of my students, your culture, your learning style, and what's important to you. When you buy a package, I am able to build upon each lesson through review, follow-up questions, and really getting to know you. In addition to class time, I spend a lot of creating lesson plans, grading homework, researching, and developing new skills, material, and content. I recommend that students schedule 2-3 lessons per week (plus plan on additional time working independently outside of class) to achieve the best results.
Book lessons in advance if you need a specific time slot.
My lessons & teaching style
I facilitate a relaxed environment to learn English, like we are two friends naturally speaking (while learning at the same time). Each lesson will begin with 10-15 minutes of small talk based on your interests and what's actually happening in your life. We will spend the remaining time learning new content based on your learning plan, as well as reviewing past material to make sure you've integrated it. All lessons will take place on Skype or Zoom. **If you cannot attend a lesson, please cancel/reschedule via italki at least 24 hours in advance to ensure you receive a refund. If you miss our lesson because you forgot, I cannot offer a refund or reschedule the lesson.**

I feel like I’ve made huge progress with Christine. Christine is one of few teachers on italki who have knowledge in phonemes and intonation 😌 If you want a lesson with a teacher who really wants to help you grow, don’t hesitate to work with her! 谢谢你的帮助!十分推荐老师的课。
