Here is my review written for anyone looking for a new teacher: just stop looking and book your first class with Juan Carlos. You can read 100 reviews on here and I promise they will all say Juan is an excellent teacher and that he continually looks for new ways to help his students. He makes his classes interesting and it is obvious that he enjoys helping his students learn. I was very nervous to start learning Spanish online, but nothing replaces speaking with a native speaker. Juan made me feel comfortable from the very beginning and I love how much I learn and improve every week. I look forward to each of my classes and they always live up to my expectations.

That was amazingly good for a first lesson. A first lesson with an intermediate level student is not easy for the teacher, because they have to try to judge what the student is capable of and respond to that. Despite that, Juan Carlos was able to quickly create some listening exercises to help me with what I told him I most needed - comprehension practice. With no opportunity to prepare in advance, he composed two short monologues on subjects of interest, and gave me a set of questions to respond to after listening. It was exactly what I needed, and he was able to do it with no preparation. Very impressive, and very helpful. He was also very encouraging, and I felt my confidence growing a lot in just one lesson. Very happy, and I'm looking forward to more lessons with Juan Carlos.

Juan always makes me feel confident to just jump in and try to explain the most complex ideas and stories and I’m so grateful for that. Such a safe, fun, and comfortable lesson as always! Gracias por todo Juan!!!!!!!

Juan is a fantastic teacher!!!! I am extremely happy with his teaching methods. He has given me the confidence I need to converse in Spanish. He is great as a teacher, he is a very patient listener, he also ensures I speak in Spanish. My classes with him have been a lot of fun. I am always looking forward for my next class with him. When I first started learning Spanish on italki I wasn't sure about what to expect. I have always wanted to learn a new language, and I ended up choosing Spanish. I was quite apprehensive about the class at the beginning, I was also very hesitant with talking in Spanish. But Juan changed it all in a very positive way. I am so happy to have found such a smart, intelligent and fun loving person as my Spanish teacher.

Great lesson today! We talked about holidays in Mexico and the US, and despite technical errors on my end, everything else went very smoothly!
