About Me

Hello! My name is Melanie and I am a native English speaker from the UK. I have travelled to various parts of the world and I am currently living in Indonesia I enjoy learning new languages to be able to communicate with people all over the world. I have learnt British Sign Language in order to reach out to the deaf in my community and I am currently learning Indonesian. So I understand the challenges people face when learning a new language and I can help you to overcome those.

Me as a Teacher

I have 2 years experience teaching English online to adults and children and I really enjoy it. It's so rewarding when you have a student grow in their confidence and fluency and abilities in the language. I am TEFL certified. As a language learner myself (Indonesian), I know and understand the difficulties people face when learning a new language.

My lessons & teaching style

My main focus in teaching is natural conversation. It's so important to talk to a native and understand how we speak and for you to be able to practice with someone who is there to help you to improve. A lot of my students have benefited from discussing news articles or videos together and being able to practice expressing their opinions which can feel so difficult when learning a new language! Also, I have many students who like to practice the speaking part of the IELTS exam with me, I can help you improve and give you tips to elevate your speaking in the exam. If you need help improving your CV or preparing for a job interview, I used to work in recruitment so I can help with that too!
