About Me
italki teacher since Sep 22, 2018
✅ Polyglot (8 languages at an intermediate level or higher). ✅ Certified language teacher. ✅ Psychology student and metalearning specialist.
My main interest in life is "metalearning" which I define as "learning how to learn and applying that knowledge in different fields". One of those fields for me happen to be language learning. But aside from language learning I have a wide sphere of interests. I enjoy movement practice (strength training, dancing, self-defense etc.), intellectual interests (such as reading, philosophy, programming and psychology), skydiving, socializing etc. I am a very open person and can talk about anything.
Me as a Teacher
✅ If you don't speak English, no problem. I can understand Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German and Japanese. I can teach you Swedish/English/Spanish using these languages (as support languages).
My method is combining psychological science and personal experience in order to build an increasingly complex (nuanced) model for learning languages. Aside from conversing with my students and "intellectualizing" the language (discussing grammar etc.) I like to help the student to start to build his or her own model for learning languages. I want my students to become more and more independent in their learning. I am also a student of psychology at the University of Linköping in Sweden.
My lessons & teaching style
My teaching style is closely linked to my learning style. I think it is important not just to teach the language directly (discussing grammar, vocabulary etc.) and indirectly (through conversation and input) but also teaching the underlying principles of learning languages (and learning in general). In this way the student may become increasingly interdependent. I believe this is the only way for the student to become the master. By becoming better at the "meta" (underlying) of language learning. I want my students to become more effective in their learning and maximize their long-term enjoyment and intrinsic motivation.

EXCELLENT. My lessons with William have been exceptionally high yield and simply phenomenal value for money! He is remarkably resourceful when it comes to language learning (in my case Swedish). I highly recommend a mix of “metalearning” lessons with the standard lessons, particularly when beginning to learn the language. His insights and advice regarding a variety of language learning resources have made a tremendous impact on my progress. Remember to saying “Give a man fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”? - When it comes to language learning William does both… really well.
