Hi my name is Maya , I am from the US and I teach English! I am a curious and adventurous person who loves learning about the world! I have lived in the US, Italy, Malaysia, and Costa Rica. I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have started my own business selling Jiu Jitsu apparel for women. I also love traveling, hiking, yoga, cooking, dancing, and learning about anything from biology to business building. Hola! Mi nombre es Maya. Soy de los estados unidos y yo enseño ingles! Estoy una persona curiosa y aventura, y me encanta aprender sobre el mundo. Vivía en EEUU, Italia, Malasía, y Costa Rica. Tengo nivel intermedio en español y me encanta viajar, yoga, cocinar, y aprender.

Me as a Teacher

I always struggled learning other languages and I think my teaching style reflects that. I know what worked for me when I was learning Spanish. I am very patient and I try to take a personalized approach to teaching. I try to find out how my students like to learn and teach them that way; I believe consistency is the only way to learn a language. I like teaching in the form of a casual conversation, I can ask you about a variety of topics and I am happy to discuss any subject you want to talk about.

My lessons & teaching style

Depending on your level and how you like to learn we can structure lessons in a variety of ways. I like centering lessons around a topic, however we can dedicate time to pronunciation, grammar, or vocabulary practice too.

Maya is a very professional, supportive and inspiring tutor! Already had two great lessons with her, and it's always easy to find the new discussion points as she's really open-minded with extensive life experience in various fields. She's also fully supportive in terms of grammar / pronunciation / writing skills and always ready to help should you have any questions.
